Overreacting?
Now after his rookie deal is over, or making a decision on what to pay him etc I'd get.
Relax man, next deadline is when it should be stressful.

Re: 2024-25 General Thread
Does anyone buy into the theory of the Kings DDV-ing Keon Ellis at the moment??
DDV time on the floor with the Kings was said to have the FO limiting his minutes so they could offer him less. Are the Kings doing the same with Keon?? He is playing sporadically there is no consistency for him to truly excel. So they decline the option and then offer him a 4/22 or 4/25m deal and then let him loose as a 25yo starting SG that is making peanuts compared to what he could be making eventually.

While possible I highly doubt it. The risks involved (other teams offering more, the Fox situation and the like) seem to say that they wouldn’t be doing that here.

Should be interesting to see how the rotations shake out. Hoping Huerter is the one to get squeezed and not Keon. Wanna see a Carter/Keon backcourt raise hell.

This whole scenario might just be the time the Kings turn it around.
Adversity with coaching change
Doug seems to have made changes to the D. Small sample size but the 3 games has the opponents shooting the long ball at 34.2%
Carter can come in and bring that fresh energy
Keon always does and this might just make the Kings into a decent perimeter defensive team with Fox being the beneficiary. I still want to see Fox putting in effort on the defensive end, but I want to utilise him as an off ball defender going for steals from deep defensive positions that lead to fast breaks and when he gets switched onto someone else you know he will be fine.
Keon/Carter/Keegan can take the 3 match ups on the perimeter for the majority and Fox can play the Steph role on D as much as possible.
Won't be able to come to fruition tonight, but that is way I would expect Doug and the staff to be working on.

I have a feeling Carter is going to have very limited minutes to start, but I totally agree. I'd be shooting for 40-50 minutes a night for Keon/Carter asap. It really compounds why Huerter needs to go for a big asap. John Collins or Zach Collins would be my choices for cheap options. I also think based on all the data we have, Christie really needs to move one of Monk/Demar to the bench. Keon or Carter should start, and obviously that should be Keon until Carter shows what he has.
Center - Sabonis, Collins (whichever one), Lyles
PF - Keegan, Collins, Lyles
SF - Demar, Keegan, Keon, Carter
SG - Keon, Carter, Monk
PG - Fox, Monk, Carter
Lots of lineup possibilities here.

I would love to go even further than that and get a wing defender for DDR. There is enough scoring power, just need 1 more defender that can go 3/4 to that squad and the depth would be there. Probably just goes to show the roster isn't far away.

No question. I really wanted PJ last deadline. That would have been a great move over Demar. Fox + monk + sabonis + as many 3&d athletic guys you can get is competing for 55 wins.

why would Devin play a lot last night then if they want him to play tonight?
I think Huerter has played himself out of the rotation by now

One thing I am looking forward to seeing moving forward is the connection Domas and Carter will have. IMO this is going to be a sneaky great duo. Carter moves so well without the ball and is a threat from deep.

When Ellis is not doing defense or shooting a 3-pointer, he literally doesn't know what to do with the ball.
Fox and Murray should go. If the trade could land McDaniels and Reid, it would look so promising:
Sabonis - Monk - Derozan - McDaniels - Carter/Reid
Reid/Carter - Huerter - Ellis - Lyles - Len

What are you trying to say here? Fox/Keegan for McDaniels/Reid? That's ridiculously poor for the Kings.
To your Ellis point. Yes he can look like he doesn't know what he is doing, but IMO that was partially a Mike Brown thing. Here me out.
How many times does Keon drive into the lane and just stop and you're like, go up with a floater or jump shot dude. Only to stop, pivot around and pass the ball out.
Last game he did the same thing, but the 2nd time he went up and scored the ball. I'm of the belief that is Doug rubbing off on him. Giving him the green light to go into his bag. Hopefully that becomes a normal move for him.

The downfall of his game is lack of guard floor game
He’s a three and D, pretty much by definition
He’s been having a good metrics on the floor, but that’s why he initially lost the job to Huerter and the starting lineup looked bad in the preseason
It’s what keeps him as a role player that you fit in situationally, but he’s been solid recently

While I agree with you, he's 24. The Kings knew he would be good 2 years ago when he was 22. He worked his tail off on his 3pt shot and its now a respectable threat. Why haven't the Kings put significant development into his game to the point, 2-3 years down the track, that they can allow him to drive the lane and finish? This is where the focus and the pressure should be on. The coaching staff for not showing development to their players for the longest time. Luckily for the future, 1 of them has been let go.

Fox still listed day to day with his hip. Anyone know if he is playing tonight?
Must have pulled up pretty sore.

Thanks.
So
Monk/Keon/DDR/Keegan/Sabonis
Sounds like Steph is back. Not sure on Kuminga/Podz though.

Re: 2024-25 General Thread
I need to see a Carter/Keon/Keegan/Lyles/Sabonis line-up at some point tonight. Please make it happen Doug.
Might go as far as to say it should be first subs. Brink Monk and DDR off for Carter/Lyles.
