In 7 games in month of December he is playing 23 mpg, shooting 37% from field, 11% from three and averaging 6.4 ppg all while being a 23 year old Rookie with a 5% Def EPM. Imagine a starting backcourt on defense of Knecht and LaMelo for the next 4 years, but nah he shot the ball good for a week so let's just ignore the obvious terrible fit.

Hey…YOU GOT ME    ! That Knecht guy is really a total POS for sure. He’s fools gold cause he’s 23, and defenses completely adjusted on him, so he hasn’t figured out how to manage that. WHAT A MAROON!

I never said we should have drafted Knecht at 6. I think he’s going to be a solid player for where he was selected in this draft. Hopefully Salaun grows into being something here.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Yeah. It is a bit frustrating to see how many shots he misses especially some of the 2s he takes. Really hoping he can start finding more of a rhythm. Still think he's shown a good amount of potential overall though.

Someone needs to take him aside and tell him to cut out the wannabe-Giannis full-court dribbling ****. Sit him down in front of tape of PJ Tucker, Jeff Green, and the Morris twins and tell him he already has enough going for him with his physical tools and shooting to look forward to a 10-15 year NBA career IF he tempers his expectations/sorts out his priorities.

yeah I mean, he's a total disaster but he shouldn't even be in the rotation. thats a failure of Lee/JP I think he will be fine in the long run as the poor play doesn't seem to be shaking his strong mentality at least. Let him do whatever he wants, he'll learn

I disagree, we suck. If there was ever a time for him to take 2-3 bad shots per game it is now and if that helps his confidence grow to where he is a more aggressive player in transition and half court then it is worth it. He has until the end of the next year before I am calling him to turn into nothing but a 3D player who plays like a 15 year old veteran and that is only if he doesn't improve.

Just like I would rather guys like KJ Simpson and Wong continue to clang threes, might as well for now. No reason for them to give up on shooting and be labeled non-shooters 15 games into their careers.

Indeed. Plowright’s point about his horrible 2pt FG% as a prospect really stung. Peterson fell in love with this kid. I seriously question Jeff’s draft calculations.

The defense looks to be pretty good, especially for a 19 year old.

4th best Def Rating

The sample size of 537 mins is getting too big to ignore, ranks 6th on team in total minutes.

Everyone on the team is putting up terrible shooting numbers. Part of it is the player, part of it is the gameplan.

The shooting numbers are bad, but also probably a little misleading because so many of his shots are from 3pt range (64%). His actual 3pt% of 30% isn't good but it is better than a good portion of rookies (Risacher, Sheppard, Castle, Holland, CodyW).

His finishing at the rim isn't good 48.5% within 5 feet, but where he really sucks is 5ft-3pt lane where he is shooting 10% on the season. Which is probably the type of shot I would like to see him eliminate anyways at this point in his career.

Everything should be a three or put your head down and get all the way to the basket. If not kick it out, he has some nice passes off drives this year.

I am a believer in the outside shot though, if he is open and shoots from 3 I generally think he is going to make it regardless of the 3pt% (which is somewhat worse because some of the heat checks this man fires).

I'm not concerned about Salaun's shooting overall, just that he has no plan when he drives and can't finish at all. That is what's depressing that percentage more than anything.

Cutting the drives to nowhere out of his game should be easy enough. I'm more concerned about him learning to defend within a team concept and boxing out.

Do NOT send him down.

He's a contributor to our losing. Leave him exactly where he is.

In fact, double his minutes and touches.

Clanging threes is fine, don't want another Kai Jones on our hands. He should be learning good habits like getting the ball to his point guard then getting downcourt for the easy dunk or open three. He's doing the other team a favor bringing it up himself, you can practically see them letting him.

Tiddy all over the place to close the 1H, and in a good way.
