+40 minutes for all starters and we wonder why we didn't have enough in the tank in the 4th...

funny thing is even if Thibs had an Aaron Wiggins he wouldn't play him much and he won them the game.

Before the complaints start rolling in, please remember this was ONE game. We took on the NBA's #1 defense and went down to the wire. This was NOT a blowout. KNICKS are right in the mix.

On to the next!

That run to open the 3rd was a bad omen for us. We should have known they would come out desperate after the half and we were caught slipping. Lead evaporated quick.

Got to find a way to get Towns more involved against a team that has struggled against elite bigs. Giannis crush them with attacks and strong inside play, Towns could have done some of that tonight if he got the looks and push. OKC is too damn good to not be utilizing all of your tools.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Got beat by a better team on the road. They hit big shots down the stretch. We missed them.

Pretty much everyone can play better, our strategy can improve and we almost came away with the win.

We have a blueprint for success against this team. We should be able to get the W with a bit better execution when we rematch.

Mikal is looking so good, credit to him

J Dub was held in check for most of the game but he made some huge momentum plays w/ his dunk & block on OG.

That SGA cradle then finger roll was pure poetry

Knicks Vs Thunder PG

Post#13 » by CyKnickal » Sat Jan 4, 2025 3:27 am

WTF were Brunson and Hart doing tonight, man.

Brunson completely let his ego get out of control and iced everybody out at the end. Kat didn't touch the ball once in the final few possessions.

Hart...dude had Hartenstein on him all night, not once did he put his head down and attack him.

Kobe said that teams nowadays are playing "accidental basketball". They run these sets and let the defense dictate what shot you get, even who gets to shoot it. iHart was there right on a platter for them to devour, they were being slick all night, putting smaller guys on Kat, who took advantage, but Brunson didn't go to it in crunch time because he wanted to out duel SGA.

Everybody loves Hart's hustle and numbers, but man, they are empty sometimes. He is too skilled, too good to not be more assertive and take advantage of his abilities. He puts up great numbers "accidentally" doing things, he would be a game changer if he got confident enough to know when he can be the go to guy. He's constantly disrespected by the opponents game plan, leaving him open, putting centers on him, letting him be an afterthought on defense. He can't just take what they give him all the time...he has to snatch it, otherwise he's a liability that all of his rebounds and floor burns won't be able to overcome.

Boston especially knows this. They have the same game plan.

The game was there for the taking and just playing stupid messed it up. This loss wasn't indicative of their shortcomings, they had it, just didn't take advantage.

Really tough loss...we can't let teams take away KAT like that. Kudos to KAT for rebounding like an animal, though.

I called it that they were gonna run outta steam at halftime. Thibs doesn't trust his bench nor know how to use it.

All I wanted to see was execution and cohesion tonight. I knew it would be a real tough one to win. I was impressed. Up 14 against an elite defense is not easy. Moral victory for sure.

I genuinely wonder what random teams and players do just to get favorable whistles for no reason.

Why don't the Knicks ever get favorable whistles?

Guys like Embiid get the softest whistles in the league while we watch KAT get mauled every night and get no calls.

It's so frustrating to watch the NBA because officials can influence a game a tremendous amount and they're all incompetent and ruin great games by making and missing calls in favor of one team or another.

No Knick starter played less than 40 min. No Thunder starter played more than 38. Our average around 42 min.; theirs around 36 mins. 4th quarter blow out. Thibs.
