We cant absorb more money, and we need draft picks. The contract(s) doesnt necessarily need to expire after this season, it can be a combo of 2025 and 2026 expirings. We need to create cap space to be able to have a max slot by the 2026 offseason.
But then.. if we want to go a little further into trade possibilities..
as ive said before a few days ago, there isnt an untradeable player on this team. That includes Bam, that includes Herro who is playing his ass off looking for an extension himself but has also been unreliable with his availability in the past, even more so than Butler.
Bam is not going to ascend, he has peaked. He is what he is.
So i wont get offended if we listen to a blockbuster offer that can really help this franchise even further should we include Bam or Herro in the trade.
I'm giving Herro another offseason. He's 24 going 25. He has another leap in him. Just because he's such an elite shooter, he has a shot to be an all nba guy if he can fix his handles and finish better at the rim and with floaters. This season he's at 24 5 5. Better ball handling, a couple more FTs and better finishing and he can be 27 5rb 6/7a. You need to see Herro play out the season and if he remains consistent, work with him like crazy in the offseason and see if he can turn into a top 15 /10 player. And if you keep Herro might as well Bam, they are on the same timeline
