Jalen Suggs non-contact back injury. Needs wheelchair to get off court.

Post#1 » by lambchop » Sat Jan 4, 2025 7:47 am

Jalen Suggs seems to have hurt his back.

Back spasms force Magic guard Jalen Suggs to leave court on wheelchair

TORONTO (AP) — Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs was taken off the court in a wheelchair because of back spasms in the first half Friday night against the Toronto Raptors.

Suggs stumbled playing defense without any contact and fell over clutching at his lower back. He stayed down for several minutes before being helped to his feet and into the wheelchair.

Suggs covered his face with a towel as he was wheeled off the court.

It looked pretty significant, but if it's really just back spasms, that's good news of course. Still agonizing for him and the Magic of course.

So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Magic can't catch a break.

If you are in that position and its your back, shouldnt you be on a stretcher instead of a chair?

Sorry just my ignoramus talking. Dont have any medical background.

With not one, but two Magic players suffering torn oblique, and now a Magic player with back injury like that, I wonder is there something very wrong with Magic's physical training tactics. Get well Jalen, hope its just a muscle strain or spasm, happens sometimes with those back muscles.

Detroit game he tweaked it. Didn't seem to inhibit him that much for the game but clearly was bothering him.

Suggs is a very strange player though, he'll be limping for a play and play possum and then go full speed and then kinda go off and on like that an entire game.

Wouldn't a stretcher put more pressure on your back because you are laying on it? No idea.

When i fell down before i was like in a fetal position and just lay sideways.

In a stretcher he could lay down like what he js doing so his back wouldnt have any contact at all

He's probably day to day, although he should probably take a couple of games off. It doesn't appear to be anything serious.

They also have a very high energy, physical style of play.

Well he’s been carrying the Magic on his back since Wagner went down so something had to give. Good thing it’s only back spams and not a disc injury so he should be fine.

When i saw it live in real time i thought Ochai Agbaji touched him but on replay nobody did anything to him. Get well Suggs.

The most amazing part of the video was that the Raptors played 4-5 for 17 seconds, and the best look they could get was a garbage long three.

Orlando's defense is legit.

Back issues are serious... People clown Ben Simmons but he's never been the same since his.

Simmons had a disc injury, and Suggs is having spasms. If Suggs had something more serious than that, they would've reported it. Suggs twisted awkwardly when he did a 360 dunk against Detroit in the last game. I think he strained his back, which led to spasms. He should probably take a couple of games off.

Orlando's defense is legit.

It sure is, but it's also pure listening to analytics ( most likely then not )why that possession ended up the way it did.

I mean most here have had terrible back spasms at some point in our lives and I can honestly tell you the position doesn't matter. The only thing that works is cortisone shots or something to numb the nerve/muscle causing the pain like an ice pack.

I am honestly surprised a doctor didn't just give him a needle there rather than having howl in pain on the court for 10 minutes
