Cam Johnson to Houston
2025 Swap rights extinguished with top four protection
2027 1st, least favorable of BKN and PHX
Jock Landale and Jeff Green
For
Cam Johnson
As of today the swap us 12th (PHX) to 25th (Hou).
If LAC catches Houston it would become OKCs pick instead of Houston's in the back half of this swap.
BKN gets two firsts of value for Cam, Rockets get shooting and help with Tari and Jabari both injured

Re: Cam Johnson to Houston
It feels a bit light on the return for BRK, but I don't mind the premise.
For Cam Johnson, I would favor a Topic- or Carter-based offer from OKC or SAC, respectively.

Houston should aim higher . Get a first / second option kind of player. You got a damn good supporting cast. Time to go star hunting to accompany Sengun.

Re: Cam Johnson to Houston
Technically, you're proposing the '27 as the second most favorable of PHX/BRK/HOU, because Houston owns a swap for Brooklyn's '27, not the outright pick. I don't think that pick will be that appealing to the Nets given they already have 3 1sts that year, and the expectation would be that Brooklyn already went on a shopping spree. Based on current standings, the allure is the '25 PHX swap, but the main value in a Cam J trade can't be something that may not convey (if that pick hits the lottery) or could suddenly go to the 20s if PHX gets their stuff together.
I think it's close, and something that Brooklyn might "settle" for if they can't get a good young player in a deal or defer until the deadline when you have another 18 games of clarity around where PHX's record is.
In a CamJ deal, Brooklyn is going to prioritize a high potential rookie deal and a '26 draft pick.

You're under the impression Rockets still own the rights to swap with Nets in 25, they don't. The 25 Nets swap and 26 Nets pick were traded for Suns picks, Rockets still keep a 27 Nets swap right but if Nets play their cards right (tank this season and next to land a couple high end prospects, use the NY allure to land top talent and their abundant assets to trade for it) then the 27 swap appeal could come down crashing hard. I don't think they'd move Cam Johnson for it, they'd be betting on their own failure.
BTW, why do the Rockets go after Cam Johnson? They already have Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr, Dillon Brooks, Cam Whitmore... do they need another player at the 3/4? If they did, maybe a straight up swap with whomever they value the least (plus some other asset) would be an option.

The rockets have PHX swap this year from Brooklyn, that is the pick swap in 25 in referring to. I think even an optimistic outlook is two years from now BKN is winning in like the 45-47 range which is another pick in the teens, 27 is not as far away as it sounds
Jabari broke his hand, Tari keeps missing games with "recovery" from his surgery last year and Whitmore is 19 and not ready to contribute consistently on a good team, plus they just desperately need shooting

I think it would have to be a pick not a swap. Most teams will offer 2 1sts and BK as they do, will just take the best ones. A swap would take HOU out of this trade consideration.

Would a deal moving Cam J to Miami and Butler to Houston make more sense?

Houston doesn't need either of these players.
We are not an all in team.

DFS was never 2 1sts. It was 1 heavily protected 1st (which was offered) or like 3-4 2nds (which they accepted).
CamJo is 2 1sts. He would 100% improve HOU's ceiling but I am unsure where they are going now.

DFS was 1 first which turns out to be either 1 protected first for a 2nd back or like 3-4 seconds.
If we go by the same valuation, CamJo is like a 1st and 3-4 seconds or a 1st and a protected swap.

We will not go with the same valuation because Cam Johnson is under 30, playing better than DFS, and is locked up on a great long term deal.

Which is partly why given how the middle of the East is , I been leaning on Nets keeping both Cam and seeing what they can add to both in the offseason. Potentially might be a quick turnaround and battle for 4th-6th spot in the standings immediately.
