Seemed like Tyus came to Phx partially because of his connection with Allen. Would be cool to keep them together to a good home. The Suns cant aggregate salaries, so that would be the reason for 2 separate trades.

Tyus has no bird rights. He is essentially a rental with a demand to start and be paid like a starter. That limits your options. Then you add Allen whose money is high end for the services he provides, (Sniper is an NBA role, but Beasley is making 6 million, Kennard is making 9.25, DDV 12 and he plays good defense, Powell is making 20 but is playing 3rd option for the Clippers.) My point is asking a team to have the money, situational availability, and willingness to take on a complicated situation in Tyus and a mixed bag in Allen at the same time is tricky. Plus I assume you want value coming back to your team. Then add in the CBA and the 2nd apron stuff. It is a mess and not easy to figure out.

ORL should have grabbed Tyus this summer...but it seems he wanted a starting spot. He'd be better off settling back into being the best backup PG in the NBA, where he belongs...You can't even trade him, really, because he accepted such a ridiculously low salary and it's expiring.
ORL should have grabbed him from WAS a year ago.

So make the Suns worse on purpose? I am not sure their GM will go for that ;)

I assumed the idea of trading them is the Suns throwing in the towel for the season?

ORL is the team for both of them.
Gary Harris + Jett Howard + DEN 1st for Allen + Tyus.

Again, making the Suns who don’t own their own picks worse for the sake of making them worse. You make a move like this for picks, not to just to **** over your players and fans. Sorry to say ;)

Allen is a better two way wing than DDV.

The move is strictly financial imo. Turn Allen contract into Gabe Vincent contracts.

What type of picks jones and Allen worth? Can Allen net expiring in your opinion ?

I actually like this for ORL given their injury situation currently.

They also need firepower off the bench from either Allen or KCP so this also works.

Allen alone has more value than Allen with Tyus. Adding Tyus without bird rights makes everything harder. But yes, Allen probably gets you a couple of 2nds and expirings. Detroit for example would be a good spot for him given that Ivey just went down. Then the Pistons could flip him next year when his deal is shorter.

Why is it harder? Sure, only non bird rights, but no one will have full bird rights on him anyway, he’s a good player, and he makes the vet minimum. You could play him this year and not worry about re signing him. A good player is better than not having a good player, etc.

Not a same team thing, but if the Rockets do Van Vleet and an expiring for Butler, then Tyus for a 2nd or two makes sense.

If the move is strictly financial, DET might make sense as the destination

But for DET, the only thing I'd be willing to give up is the cap space

Grayson Allen for Wendell Moore Jr ($2.5M, expiring) works, and saves PHX $13M in salary (and a bunch of taxes) this year
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

True, but Tyus expects to start and play starter minutes. That was the deal when he went to the Suns. If they trade him and he doesn’t get that it could cause issues for whatever team acquires him and damage the Suns reputation among the players. Good luck getting the next guy on a prove it to pick you.

If true, start by listing the teams that would make Tyus a starter?

I can think of one.

But I think the most likely course is that he stays in PHX and finishes the season starting in PHX. I know the Suns have dropped to 11th, but without their picks, they aren’t really giving up, are they? Or is this a deal after they trade a star to get some picks? Like a “how much is this package worth?” Thread?
