At the beginning of the season, I was calling for Queta to get Luke's minutes. Well, crow tastes bad, but I'll gladly take it. I was wrong. I don't not think that there is a better back up big in the NBA that is being paid as little as Luke is. Queta is still a work in progress, is coming along good and being signed for two more seasons after this one is great. But I really think Brad should lock Luke up for a couple more years this off season. These two guys are just what Boston needs as backups behind Porzingis and Al. Now if we can just get Tillman out of his funk, all will be well with the big man rotations.

That will depend on what Luke gets on the market after the season.

If another team offers Luke 10m per year, he will leave.

When Luke first got here to Boston, I was shouting that he was the best 3rd Bigman in the league. Still has that argument. Many hated him so bad at first. I think I remained the same while many went past me for liking Luke. But his defense is still a major flaw and last amongst our Bigs IMO (Tillman does not count) He hands are still suspect as well. But he definitely has good uses as he flows to the rim better than any of our Bigs. Luke sees the court so well. And perhaps is the single best Lockeroom guy we have in how many years. But with anyone I like or Love, Boston always comes first. PP, Tatum or any of my favorite players I would trade to get Boston better. If Boston can do better than Luke (they can) I want them. Sorry Luke.

Pope Francis posted a column in praise of humor.

It should be obvious why I link this in a thread about Luke Kornet. :)

(Seriously, it's paywalled, but there are a couple of jokes in the non-paywalled part.)

K has Q beat in every category other than TS% (barely). Q also fouls almost twice as much as K per 100 possessions.

K w/o Q on the floor: 91st percentile offense, 76th percentile defense, +11.7 net
Q w/o K on the floor: 97th percentile offense, 66th percentile defense, +12.7 net

C's have been lucky to have both especially with KP missing so much time.

He's barely played. Even fewer non-garbage time minutes. Wouldn't be fair to show his stats lol.

Luke + Queta on the floor together is a fun, rarely used novelty lineup that I kind of like because Luke and Q have complimentary strengths. Joe doesn’t use it, even this yr going more dbl big but in very short sample is +88 net in 11 mins last yr, +16 in 5 mins this yr…
and, as a fan who likes quirky lineup experimentation, I’d like to see Luke + Queta on court together some more

Oh I know that was mostly tongue in cheek, other than the "what about X" as in, what about his future with the team this year. Man is he going to get in gear or no?

I'd have to go back to all of our pre-season threads but I feel like after his finals cameo the consensus was he was the third big (or darn close) coming in.

It's a head-scratcher. At the very least, I was expecting he'd get Brissett type minutes and be the first in line for those double big bench units since he's more switchable. Apparently not. We need a 30-for-30 about this including Springer not even seeing a few minutes against the crafty, speedy guards that have torched us this season.

Kornet (and the whole team, really) were sooooo close on making positive plays in the IND loss, but just didn't get it. Multiple rebounds / balls on the floor that he had and then didn't. Stepped on the baseline once, iirc. Seems to be a theme with Kornet. He does a lot of good, but then he's really close to doing a lot more good but doesn't quite get it done.

Brad needs to get it in gear and get more of the '22 "1st/pick swap/Jrich for D. White" deadline deals, the last two years of Muscala/Springer/X are looking totally, like, human at this point.

He hasn't traded a first for a borderline all-star in 15 months what's he even been doing

Well just using this chart Kessler had been talked about a bit and he is top 3. Though Kornet has the only Kornet Kontest in the league

#5 - Luke Kornet, Sengun-stopper

I tracked every attempt from Sengun while defended by Kornet… and the Turkish big man only made 1 out of his 9 attempts against the Celtics’ reserve big man. Meaning he was 5 out of 6 on all his other attempts.

and yet -- he's consistently pretty good!

He's not likely to become 'great', but he's a bargain for the vet min and seems to have a great attitude about being ready to give the team whatever he can whenever he's called on -- he's not alone in that, but it's certainly gotta be helpful for team culture/chemistry

I don't mean that you are, but I think a lot of fans rag on him because he's a classic goofy big white stiff
And I understand that, but I hope we can also appreciate what we've got in Luke while we've got him

Nah, I’m a fan and have been. He’s quite solid. It’s just lately it seems like he is a few missed rebounds, dunks or whatever’s away from being outstanding. 3-4 plays each game that he allllmmmoooooosssstttt makes. It’s tantalizing, not demoralizing.
