LAC-POR-DAL - Clippers Try One More Run

Post#1 » by Maverick41 » Sun Jan 5, 2025 1:57 am

LAC reveives: J. Grant
POR receives: Tucker + Hyland + K. Brown + Kleber + LAC 30 FRP + DAL 25 SRP
DAL receives: Mann

LAC gets a high level starter that fits well and can semi-simulate Kawhi when he load manages. They can put out a really good 2 way lineup of Harden/Jones/Kawhi/Grant/Zubac with Norm coming off the bench. For the pick outgoing, maybe it can be amended to a swap or add some protections.

POR gets out of Grant's contract. Gets expirings, a future FRP from LAC that could be very good, and trades away the long term money of Mann for a much shorter contract and a decent SRP from DAL. All of the players coming back help their tank this season as well.

DAL gets a solid 2 way wing that is locked up. He's insurance in case Grimes gets a large offer elsewhere in the offseason. For the current season, this enables DAL to have 3 different 2 way wings off the bench (Mann, Grimes, Naji) to throw at opposing stars in the playoffs.

No way the Clips should trade their 2030 1st to upgrade from Mann to Grant. Teams only trade picks that far out in moves that could win them a ring. Clippers are not winning a ring by adding Grant.

Teams do sometimes trade picks that far out when they have no other picks to move.

Grant has been bad and absurdly overpaid for many years to come. He can't even put up his usual good stats on a bad team anymore. I wouldn't call him a high level starter at all.

Frank would need to polish off about five bottles of Pappy before such an idea even becomes considerable. Least you can do is let Lawrence keep his most recent first, who, while hasn't shown much, the franchise likes and use Bamba + Porter instead.

And Grant being able to simulate Kawhi is akin to me saying Bones can simulate (insert high level, undersized chucking guard)

He is stinking it up this year.

Thanks, folks for the feedback.

Is the trade salvegable in any way? Protections, swap? A couple SRPs instead of a FRP? K. Brown can be removed for a different filler.

Or DOA?

It isn’t just the picks, POR would have to cut several players.

Not sure this is going work.

Jerami Grant has an 11 per, a negative BPM and is shooting 38/38/82 while playing bad defense.

Clippers would be lucky to dump him for expirings.
