Re: Best Wing Upgrade or Player for Rui?
Rui is a player that I would like on the Kings. Obviously there is no Kings/Lakers deal there, but if there is a 3rd team where the Kings end up with Rui centered around Huerter/Asset(s) then it would be interesting.
To Lakers: Wing upgrade
To Kings: Rui
To 3rd Team: Huerter/Asset(s)

Re: Best Wing Upgrade or Player for Rui?
The Hawks would need quite a bit incentive to move Hunter for Rui with the Hawks owning the Lakers 25. No reason to make a pick you own worse while also cresting a roster hole without getting an overpay.nzahir wrote:GeorgeMarcus wrote:Ball4life32 wrote:Hawks don’t do that… not close.
Def not straight up but Lakers would have to juice it up
Yes we need to add
The question is, is adding worth it?
I dont think the gap between Rui and Hunter is a good 1st though and the injury history worries me
Would Atlanta want a protected 1st? And is that even possible for us anymore since we dont have our 29 and 31 1sts?
Or a protected swap in 28 and some 2nds?
I see Bruce Brown brought up a lot...pass. Not a good shooter and coming off a knee injury
If Butler goes to a team like GS, Hou, or Den then I wonder if we can get Wiggins, Brooks, or MPJ
If he goes to Mem, I would be interested in Marcus Smart
The dilemna here is what team views Rui as having some value?
Is Miles Bridges even an upgrade? Defense seems to have fallen and not shooting well from 3
BI is the biggest risk, but the fit is a big question mark
Also this all depends on what C and guards are available.
For ex if Kessler is available for a 1st, unprotecting 27, and a couple 2nds/a swap in one of the years with protections (if unable to protect it de to not having a 2nd I think). Then I rather go that route
But if Utah isnt willing to move him, then we can use the assets on an upgrade here and get a cheaper backup C

Re: Best Wing Upgrade or Player for Rui?
Probably easier to get a guard/big than upgrade Rui. I don't think there are any gamechanging wings available on the market for what the Lakers have to offer. Guys like Hunter, Cam J, Wiggins, even Brooks would be great but can't see their teams willing to part with them for anything less than an overpay.
I think something like this makes sense:
LAL in: Coby White and Kessler
CHI in: lightly protected 2031 FRP, Vincent and Mykhailiuk
UTA in: JHS, Hayes, unprotect 2027 FRP, unprotected 2029 FRP
Reaves/White/Milton
Christie/Knecht
LBJ/DFS/Reddish
AD/Rui/Vando
Kessler/Wood/Koloko

Good point about the draft pick. Just curious, as a Hawks fan what would you say about this framework?
Hunter / Bogdan / LAL pick
for
Rui / Knecht / Christie / Vanderbilt / 1-2 SRPs

The guy your handle is named after maybe?
Kings could provide value for Rui, while lakers get kuzma, and Washington gets picks?

AD/Rui/Vando
Kessler/Wood/Koloko
I listed Wiggins and Brooks b/c of a potential deal for Jimmy. Then we would deal with Miami. Cant see it any other way
CamJ would have already happened if BKN wanted it to considering we just traded for DFS. So I dont see that
If Kessler is available for unprotecting 27, giving up an unprotected 1st and expirings.....you do the damn deal
I feel like they want unprotecting 27, an unprotected 1st, and a lightly protected 1st
That is where it gets tricky because that is an overpay
We ca try and squeeze Sexton or Clarkson, but honestly, I dont love those guys that much
We need a #3 playmaker, but preferably a guy who can play some defense and has size.
Lonzo, Brogdon, Smart, Nembhard are names I am looking at
Smart would require a 1st or Rui I think. So if Utah wants both 1sts, he is out I think
Nembhard would require a 1st, so same situation as before
Leaves us with Lonzo or Brogdon. Would Utah take unprotecting 27, an unprotected 1st, and a lotto protected 1st for Kessler and give us back 1-2 2nds? Now we have 3-4 2nds to trade with Vando and Vincent for Brogdon/Lonzo and they get to keep Sexton. Easier move is to just take back Sexton if they want, but they may value him mroe highlt than me
Would be possibly a great team though
Reaves, Christie, Rui, Bron, AD
Lonzo/Brogdon, Knecht, DFS, Kessler
10th man is between Cam or Wood. Have 1-2 extra roster spots to sign a guy like DSJ/Fultz as injury protection and a 2/3 like Justin Holiday

0 interest in Kuzma

Rui for DeMar based trade might work actually.

Kings get Rui, JHS, Wood

No thanks. DeMarr doesn't shoot 3s or defend.

Lonzo just doesn't seem realistic. If you're the Bulls, would you rather have Lonzo coming off the books or dead money in Vando that comes off in 2029 (and an extra year of Vincent too)? I don't think a few seconds are enough to incentivize them to take that on. Moving Vando is going to cost a protected FRP at minimum and I don't think Lonzo is worth that. He's a huge injury risk and hasn't proved that he's capable of being a productive player again-- 30 FG% and 48 TS% isn't going to cut it as a third guard. His defense and playmaking would be nice to have but I think we need more creation from that position. Plus, he could probably be had for the minimum next year.
I have similar concerns about Brogdon's health but at least he's producing when he plays this season. He'd fit pretty nicely here but I don't think a few seconds are going to cut it. Maybe something like this could work:
WAS in: Vincent, Svi, JHS
LAL in: Brogdon and Kessler
UTA in: Vanderbilt
WAS might be willing to make this deal for a couple of seconds but I can't see Utah taking on Vando even if both 2027/2029 were unprotected.
I would rather target guards like Nembhard, Ayo, White, DDV, CP3 that can be had for at most Vincent + draft capital. Just a cleaner deal to make or shop Rui + draft capital for a substantial upgrade.

Re:Nembhard, I doubt he’s available, but especially jot in a “parted out” type trade. Indy is going to want a TON of value for him. It wouldn’t make sense for LA.

Yeah, I'm not sure any of those guys I listed are reasonably available. Maybe the Bulls guards can be had for the right price.
Is there a possibility of Indiana viewing Nembhard as more expendable than Mathurin?

My understanding is that Nembhard is more valued. He complements Haliburton dynamically well, and we’ve seen a huge increase in Haliburton and the teams performance and winning since Nembhard returned from injury.

I wouldn't mind that at all TBH. It definitely helps the Kings' roster be a little more balanced.

Yeah it seems it works for both teams. Lakers need a bench playmaker and DeMar could be that. I think the Laker fans complaints would be defense but there's no perfect piece that would be affordable for Rui, this is a good angle I think and DeMar always wanted to play for Lakers.

I think this is very light for Chicago. Feels more like it would be:
Bulls: Vincent + Rui + 3 firsts
Lakers: Coby White + Vucevic
That's a strong top 7 for the Lakers (White/Reaves/Christie/DFS/LeBron/AD/Vucevic).
Bulls tank to keep their pick this year and get 3 firsts. Not very Bulls-like not to chase the play-in, but there's some sense to it. White will be expensive to re-sign.
Maybe Christie or Knecht is even in the deal, Bulls can send back Duarte's expiring to the Lakers.
