WSH can offer JHS a contract this off summer he's a FA who deal wasn't picked up, & why would WSH want to take on Vincent
and Vanderbilt deals without being compensated? This is silly.

* Lakers are looking at trading JHS but mostly trying to get the Utah deal done, much talks between the two teams about It.

* Vando Is still Injured, while playing practice with no contact, will take him some time to come back. He has a long contract of 3/4 years and I don't see Was trading anyone with longterm contracts either.

If you want a trade that sends 'King Kuzma' to Lakers this works, but would Was do this?

Was Out: Kuzma
Was In: Rui, Gabe

LAL Out: Rui, Gabe
LAL In: King Kuzma

Kuzma has 3 years contract

Was lose him and get expiring In Gabe and Rui the following year - Gabe/Rui expire In 25/6 while Kuz Is the following.

Vando and Vincent are going to be difficult to move without picks attached, even to teams not competing like WAS and the like. They might as well keep what they have.

after this year, vando and vincent make a combine $58 million...while Kuz has over $63 million left....

so wash saves some money and vincent's deal ends a year earlier than kuz, so they lower money in that 3rd year as well

Kuzma IS empty stats, and ENJOYS empty stats. Not a winner...

This! Every player wants to win but to some, it is not as important as getting their minutes and shots.

This trade makes perfect sense if LA is throwing in a protected FRP. But without the pick, there is no reason for Washington to consider it.

No interest in Knecht.

I think full lotto protection is fair, but only if the pick rolls over if not conveyed (which would mean the pick might stay encumbered for a while and limit LA's flexibility).

If LA wants to make the trade with no rollover provision in order to maintain flexibility, then the protection would need to be much less, maybe top 6 or so.

Knecht has fallen off after the very hot start, but could he be flipped to a third team for a first plus a minimum contract? I"m sure the Wiz would take a '26 or '27 pick from some team.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

No team is going to trade a FRP in a good draft for the #17 pick in a bad draft who is turning out to be pretty mediocre despite already being 23 years old.

Recent draft picks are like recently bought new cars. They tend to lose value as soon as you drive them off the parking lot because once you see that the ceiling is limited, you don't really care much about the floor.

Knecht has a role in this league, but it doesn't look like he'll be a front line starter. He is going to be a rotation player - a 6th to 8th man. Nobody is going to trade a pick for a guy like that. You can find a guy like that every year in free agency for a few million dollars. Teams would rather have a late first round pick, which at least has a one-in-four chance of panning out to be a starting-caliber player, and a non-zero chance of being an actual star.

Save the pick and go sign Luke Kennard this summer.
