Re: Bucks and Heat
Bucks cannot aggregate while being over the 2nd apron. As such any Butler to the Bucks deal would have to involve a third team, as the Bucks need to lose 6.5M to get below the 2nd apron after the deal is done, and the Heat cannot add salary due to being over the 1st apron.
Edit: I looked into what is possible if Milwaukee want to get Butler, and Lopez pretty much has to be included for the Bucks to be able to get under the 2nd apron while keeping Giannis and Lillard. Conceptually a trade like the one below works, however I am not sure Milwaukee has the picks to add to both make it worth while for Miami giving up Butler and for Detroit taking on Middletons contract for this year or the next.
MIL in: Butler, Burks, Fontecchio
MIA in: Lopez, Connaughton, Hardaway Jr., pick(s)
DET in: Middleton, Richardson, pick(s)

The Bucks have absolutely nothing we want. Hard pass. I just don't see where the value is coming from because that package is very meh

The Bucks unprotected 2031 pick might be one of the juicer assets out there in a Butler trade.
I think Lopez still has the value of a first rd pick as well. So you see the base of a decent looking trade with Miami getting a similar return that Philly got for Harden with 2 picks.
Making the math work to (a) keep Milwaukee under the 2nd apron and (b) rounding out their roster is what gets tricky. Pat Coungintons money likely needs to be included which would give the Bucks about 7mm below the 2nd apron to fill 2 roster spots.

Neither the pick nor Lopez were included in the OP and I'm not sure those assets are going to be enough to beat out some other teams. I wouldn't be looking to move Butler to Milwaukee.

Butler after the suspension is a meh package on his own.

Sure, just like James Harden was.
But if the Bucks like their package of meh more than Jimmy Butler, their is a simple solution; keep it! Doesn't affect us one way or the other.

I think the market value for Butler is going to be 2 first rd picks, 1 low upside and 1 high upside, with maybe a swap or a few 2nds.

I like the concept of:
Butler/Dame swap.
Middlton for Rozier+
third or fourth team needed. I think that ideally the core pieces for Bucks incoming would be Marcus Smart (via Memphis) and Butler. Core pieces for Miami being Middleton and Dame.
The money isn't quite right with Rozier/Smart (also Memphis would need incentive) and Pistons are a stand in for a team just taking on some money, and/or getting a useful vet (Burks?) for cap purposes.
I have: Bucks get Smart, Duncan Robinson. Griz get Rozier, Malik Beasley. Heat get Middleton, Connaughton. Pistons get back Kennard.
Obviously i think that someone has to pay Piston and Griz for getting their hands dirty here. Heat and Bucks have a total of 3 SRP between them and I don't see a FRP being involved here. MAYBE Heat put one in because Dame is more valued at this time than Butler, but the counter argument is star for star.
Numbers don't lie, people who use them do

Re: Bucks and Heat
Bucks board has been kicking around the idea of a Jimmy for Dame swap. Biggest issue I have is resolving contract situation but Dame is an old supermax contract too just a year longer. Jimmy and Giannis are a good fit personality wise and Jimmy is a Marquette guy along with Doc Rivers. Bucks recommit to defense. Feel like Miami would 100% be interested and won’t be able to find a better win now piece if Pat Riley actually believes they’re close so think maybe the Bucks can squeeze an additional asset too taking the malcontent that wants a big contract.

I don’t know what the deal actually gets drawn out to be. But it seems like an interesting base. Even if it’s Dame to Orlando and a fourth team with a somewhat useful rotation guard to Milwaukee, while getting them under the second apron?
Seems complicated but interesting.

There’s probably something to bridge the gap from meh to very meh.
Doubt there’s absolutely nothing that Heats might think it will somewhat improve the team (a fairly unavailable Middleton might be not what fits though)

I honestly like the idea of a Dame for Butler deal.
Problem is Butler makes a bit more and Milwaukee is over the second Apron, so any deal would need to be multiple players, 3 or more teams that ends up with Milwaukee under the apron ( they would be hard capped) .
To complicated to really be realistic but who knows.
