Re: Trades and Transactions Thread - Preseason and Beyond
Guys I would be interested in if they became available at the deadline. Most of these guys aren’t getting much playing time but could thrive in a different situation.
1) Jordan Hawkins
2) Jarace Walker
3) Deni Avidja
4) Tari Eason
5) Cam Whitmore
6) Ousmane Dieng
7) Corey Kispert
With the exception to Avdija, all these guys are on cost controlled deals and wouldn’t require much to be sent out in salary.

How many of them would Thibs play, say 15-20 min? Not trying to be a wiseass; genuine question as I haven't followed any of them closely. How many play D? Rebound? (Eason?) Give a good scoring punch (Whitmore?)

How about zero? If Thibs would play couple of players an additional 15 mpg, our problems would have been resolved. He is simply refusing to do even that at this points

Re: Trades and Transactions Thread - Preseason and Beyond
Thibs would play bench more had he trusted them is a cop out argument. Even the guys he play, they get fewer minutes than their career averages. Cam Payne is getting Philly treatment. He has been in an out of the rotation. When he plays, his minutes range from 5 minutes to 20 depending on Thibs’ mood. Precious who has been clearly positive when he is playing is getting less minutes than he was last season. McBride is getting 24.5 mpg, lower than what he was getting post Toronto trade when he became a staple of the rotation. Early to say what he will do with Shamet eventually but 10 mpg is his lowest career average. Just upping these four dudes without any additional rotation players would be sufficient to give relief to starters. Say you reup McBride to 30, Previous to 26, Shamet and Payne to 20 each. That gives you 96 minutes from the bench of a 240 minute game.

With the exception of Dieng, everyone on this list would get playing time. Thibs doesn’t play the bench. But we’ve seen that if the player is talented enough, he will play him for 15-20 mins.

Rockets supposedly interested in Sims..... Lets make a deal. Doubt they'd move Eason but Whitmore...perfect impact 2 player way fit.

They will want Pac and we will hand him to them. I think his upside is way more than Whitmore.
I am afraid Thibs, no matter who we get, is going to run the starters into the ground…again.
Wish we could have kept the guy we let slip to Cleveland, who’s team has dream rotations, always fresh.

I would pack Dadiet's bags, Whitmore to me has more upside, but he also can contribute right now. To me that would be a no brainer.

None of those guys are any good so we would lose a lot more games. Payne and Shamet just aren’t that good. McBride is our 6th man and has been dealing with nagging injuries. I don’t even think he’s capable of 30mpg. He didn’t play the last 2 games with a hamstring injury in warm ups. We don’t have a backup wing. Dadiet is bad even in the g league. A team serious about winning isn’t putting him in a game. We need to do a consolidation trade for a solid backup who can score points

I made this comment yesterday and I think this is probably the most realistic trade
Pacome Dadiat + 2nd round pick for Alec Burks
Mitch Robinson, Precious and 2nd round pick for Jonas Valuncinas and Saddiq Bey

Jordan Hawkins has the BEST jump shot I have ever seen. IDK about fit, his defense is suspect, but that J...

Burks trade prop violates the Fournier-Ntilikina rule of having to have a Frenchman on the roster!

There’s zero reason why Thibs can’t play Cam, Shamet, and Precious 13 mpg consistently every night. They’ve all done more than that on playoff teams. Sims can get at least 5 mpg too because Jalen does well with him as a screener and we need to up his trade value anyway. He had some good games this year too.
That isn’t gunna lose us games. If they’re put in proper lineups, you’re not asking much from them. Cam n Shamet are very efficient shooters that can play serviceable defense, and that’s all we’re really asking of them.
Simply doing that and keeping Deuce at an optimal 25 mpg, would keep Jalen, Mikal, and Towns @ 35 mpg and Hart n OG @ 33 mpg. This 40-44 mpg is not only dangerous and unsustainable, but just stupid when you have title aspirations. It’s getting out of control with all our starters in the top of the league in mpg.
Brunson (35) | Payne (13)
Mikal (23) | Deuce (25)
Hart (23) | Mikal (12) | Shamet (13)
OG (33) | Hart (10) | Precious (5)
Towns (35) | Precious (8) | Sims (5)
Lineups like:
Jalen, Deuce, Hart, OG, Sims
Cam, Deuce, Mikal, Precious, Towns
Jalen, Shamet, Mikal, Hart, Precious
At any point during 13 out of 48 minutes isn’t gunna lose us a game. Thibs is just not a great minutes manager or minutes fuks giver. He just reverts back to starters when things go wrong not knowing that there in lies the problem because they’re gassed and playing on dead legs down the stretch.

It's not hard to see what the problem is. We have guys who can play just sitting on the bench getting splinters. Thibs leaving starters in in blow outs has resulted in injuries. Doing so on the second night of a back to back where you ran your starters 40+ is pure irresponsible insanity. IDGAF what anyone says, Thibs has to cut he BS or he has to go. I am done giving him benefits of doubt and waiting for Mitch etc. He clearly is never gonna change. The FO needs to address the problem!!

Thibs is weird this year. He is coaching like he did when he was almost fired. Right before Rose said to him "I don't care that I just paid Evan and Kemba, play who you need to play" and he started winning.
Payne, McBride, Shamet, and TyKo are all short. Add that to Brunson and Hart and that's 6 of our best talents who are below 6'5". Bridges and OG have fair size for 3. Gotta get creative. We are not a fast enough team for the lineup we run.

If it's me, i am not putting Hart at the 4 at all. OG 30/Precious/18. KAT 36/Sims 12. All 12 Sims minutes with OG, all 18 precious minutes with KAT. Could even get cute and have Sims run with KAT and Precious with OG for jumbo vs speed packages.
