That’s awesome for Melo, and good for some positive attention on the Hornets.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Would be sick to see LaMelo being a starter, does he deserve it? debatable but no doubt the fans would love seeing him playing in the game dishing out sick dimes to everyone.

Not sure a Hornets player has ever led a position in ASG voting. Then again, this team's favorite military member -- General Soreness -- will probably put paid to any hopes of seeing LaMelo play in what's admittedly an atrocious format.

He is the most entertaining player in the East. Makes sense.

im assuming lj led forwards in 92-93

anyway, this gives melo/hornets all the reasons to keep him on the court

Not sure if you old heads know, but Melo has a pretty big cult following with the younger kids. They love that dude all over social media.

If we ever start winning games he's going to be one of the most popular players in the league.

Surprised someone like Brunson isn't in first but Melo is a social media magnet so I understand why he's high. Would be funny to see the starting PG come from the team with the worst record in the league by that time

Allstar voting yet again makes me think Lamelo would be the next face of the league if A. He actually stayed healthy and B. We actually stayed competitve.

I also believe I read he is top 5 in most watched highlight plays.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Melo's style of play is tailor made for the all-star setting. He looked like a natural out there, and even closed out the game iirc, last time he was selected. I hope he makes it again.

He plays every game like it's an all star game, minus the good teammates part.

Where's Garland? Hali, Scottie Barnes? Is it them or their teams' so-called fans?

I don't feel too bad about ankle soreness keeping him out of the ASG. This tournament-style format is awful and it appears a lot of players share that same sentiment.

I’m not sure that I’m totally over the moon about LaMelo getting a bunch of flowers for how he’s played this year. Hopefully it doesn’t become contentious when/if we reach a point comes where we need to scale his usage and green light back to appropriate levels because the team has more efficient options.

ASG has been trash for awhile so I'm not super concerned about how the players feel. it's their own fault for the format changing

reminder they changed voting few years back
"Fan voting makes up 50% of the All-Star starter selection formula, with media voting accounting for another 25% and voting by current NBA players counting for the remaining 25%"
media and players wont be voting for melo in their top 4 east guards probably

And now the entire season is like an ASG: trash to watch. The NBA is the only major pro sports league in the world that has an ongoing problem with finding ways to make its players show effort and try. And, given that it's the most player-dominated one in terms of power, the slide's not gonna stop anytime soon.

Still pretty funny how that happened:
