Jimmy Buckets for Kuzma?
Butler would exemplify grit and competitive attitude. Kuz could grow fat and sassy in Miami.
I’d take Kel’El Ware and throw in Kispert. No? There’s got to be some kind of package there.

I don’t think Butler has the demeanor to be a vet leader on a bad team. He is not a Chris Paul type of personality. It would go badly.

Kuzma and Poole for Butler. Salaries are pretty close. We get out of contracts we don’t want and no way Butler uses his player option to stay here next year.
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics — quote popularized by Mark Twain.

We’d be going from someone who’s considered a positive in the locker room (Kuz) to someone who’s proven to be just the opposite (Butler).
No thanks…even for half a season.

I'm not sure where Jimmy bittlers level of value is. My opinion is that he's a negative asset. Over paid, 36, attitude. I can't see him being worth much.doclinkin wrote:Jimmy Buckets for Kuzma?

We actually have a good mix of contracts for a Jimmy trade or to help in a Jimmy trade.
Could we interest them in Kuz maybe.
But we have some valuable assets that could be used to assist in a Jimmy trade to a team with less flexibility.
We have 3 large basically non guaranteed contracts Brogdon, Holmes and Bagley. We have Davis Baldwin and gill too. We also have a 12 mill TPE.
Unfortunately we can't trade kispert this season due to the date he signed his extension.
So could we try to trade for them flip buttler, maybe. But I bet we have a better chance as helping another team get him.
Also unfortunately there are 4 teams that have incentives to not loose and have contract to just trade for Jimmy kind of like when Toronto traded for kawi.
The pistons, the hawks, the nets, and the rockets. None of which are really on Jimmy's lists but they could do it.

I can certainly see the Wiz helping to facilitate a Butler deal and getting value for that but no point whatsoever in keeping him.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
Yeah I like that better. If we could get in on a multi team deal. Miami finally has draft picks to trade. And I think Ware is better than his stats show right now. Could be a throw-in on a deal.

Agreed. We should be the third team. Kuz/Brogdon/JV are all rotational guys on a playoff team and on cheap/expiring contracts.
Add in Expirings in Holmes, Bagley, and Davis… and we can serve as a good conduit in getting ole Mr Buckets somewhere he needs to be.

Butler is a net positive on a team shooting for a championship in the next two years. He is a net negative on any other team (unless they have a longer-term contract they want to jettison.
Denver yes, but doesn't have the draft assets. Cleveland, OKC, NYK don't need him. Lakers & Dallas can't make the trade.
You get where I am going with this - I think Miami is stuck with him for a season or two.
Next season, they might try to get Butler to opt-out?; they may be willing to start their rebuild in '26-27?; or they might try moving him next season as an expiring contract?
Just don't see anything happening by this year's trade deadline.

I'd be shocked if Butler is still on Miami after the trade deadline. Pat Riley will find a way to move him.

Okay - it will be interesting... I'll take the "he isn't moved" side of this equation.

We got rid of Rui for a reason. We aren't taking him back without draft compensation.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
It's time to have the conversation of how much would it take us to take beals contract back lol ?
The only assets they have are 3 seconds and a first they can't trade but can't give pick swap rights on. They have 3 players 25 or under that would be considered neutral or positive in bolbol, dunn and ighodaro. That's really it.
I don't see the heat parting with assets just to revive Jimmy. But they have frists, which I can't see them trading for this, maybe pick swaps? The have 2 seconds. Ware, JJJ, jovic, and that's about it. But again I can't see them using assets to remove buttler vs just daring him to leave.
We probably wouldn't get enough value to take beal back in a deal. Even if Kuz is on the way out. I just don't see enough value coming back to us.
I think where we could maybe get value is helping the heat after the Jimmy trade.
Rozier and Robinson might be on the block after Jimmy's gone and if we use our one year deals to help them move that money maybe we can get some seconds or jovic out of the deal.

No… it’s not
1) Phoenix doesn’t have the assets to dump him
2) He would not waive his no trade clause to come back.
3) That 3rd year (26/27) at nearly $60M just kills any possibility
Poole right now is the same/better, healthier, and nearly half the price.

No chance on Beal, not in a billion universes could I imagine Butler coming here either on that topic. Very happy neither of those situations are coming our way.

Yeah, it would be a great idea in theory to absorb some really bad contract in exchange for a bunch of picks, but Phoenix doesn't have any picks to trade.
