Uh, the Wizards are being outscored by a lot, period so that's not exactly a genius take, not to mention +/- stats aren't exactly gospel for individual players. Imagine what you could learn if someone actually watched the games.

The Wizards are statistically the worst team in NBA history with Sarr on the court and by a pretty large margin.

This does not condemn his future as a player, but he's having a pretty terrible rookie year. Players shooting 39/28 with no free throws at seven feet tall are bad at winning... I don't know if this is controversial?

You literally only post after games when he hits threes.

His TS% is 19 points lower than league average. He's a 7 foot tall center shooting 39% from the field.

Because this is the type of potential he shows. You have to assume that he’s going to grow into playing these good games more often than the bad ones.

No, you should never assume that. Many rooks/young players who are super inefficient while having a green light simply bust, and many others slowly dial back their game when their sustainable role becomes clearer, and they stop shooting tons of 3s or taking wild drives etc.

Either way the idea that a young player who sometimes hits shots will soon always hits shots is not a thing. You should be looking more for what a player is showing control and mastery of things--what can they do for sure to be effective--as a gauge of what they can grow into or what are realistic expectations to project.

Raw stats Rookie Mobley is better, the advanced stats Mobley is lightyears better.

Mobley as a Rookie
43% Off EPM
96% Def EPM
79% overall EPM

Sarr as rookie
24% Off EPM
1% Def EPM
2% overall EPM

Porzingis as a rookie
77% Off EPM
89% Def EPM
88% overall EPM

It's only the first quarter of the season, the numbers of Sarr are not at all definitive, nor representative of what will be his career. In the last 10 matches he is running at 41% 3FG, to go with 14pt 7rb 2ast 2 blk.
This is almost similar to what A.Davis did at the same age in his rookie season, with better long range shooting.

Advanced stats are not very relevant to judge a rookie season, nobody use it. Stephon Castle is first at the Kia rookie ladder despite having very low advanced stats.

Players are drafted mainly on potential nowadays, not stats, there's no doubt Sarr has one of the biggest upside amongst 2024 draftees. His improvement since the summer league is obvious, he's showing he is adapting well to the big league.

Remember HadAnEffectHere is a hater, he was saying last year that Mobley was a bust  who can't play PF

He needs another year or two with the NBA regiment and diet. As a Wizards fan, I'm just happy he doesn't look like a bust. Essentially 11/6/2 blocks per. Per 36 is 15/8/2 blocks. It's solid, but he's far from a finished product which is why what he's doing early is encouraging.

I hope you guys get him in the weight room. He needs a good 25 lbs. Some of that will come with age but he needs some extra through lifting so he can absorb contact and not shy away from it.

Every game that passes he looks more and more like the best player in the draft. Kid looks like a young KG with a 3.

I think Sarr and Risacher will both end up being pretty good players. I've seen enough flashes from both to be satisfied. Both guys are so so so young. Perhaps it takes a bit for 19 year olds to figure out how to hold their own in the best league in the world. Imagine that.

Agreed. Silly how many idiots were dunking on him because of Summer League nonsense.

Sarr doesn’t look anything like KG with a 3. Lmfao. He’s like KG without the skillset, talent or instincts.

Super edgy and clever

Age 19 y/o rookie seasons

KG - 10/6/1.8 with 2.5 stocks and shooting 29% from three on less than half an attempt per game

Sarr - 12/6/2.3 with 2.5 stocks and shooting 32% from three on 4.5 attempts per game

you were saying?

KG’s rookie season wasn’t all that, and comparing two rookie years across eras is also a big reach. Thinking everyone is a potential KG because they put up 10/6 or better is the next KG is goofy as ****.

But I can find you a bunch of guys that put up 12/6 on 41% shooting that didn’t become MVPs, DPOYs and champions lmfao.

But if you think saying Alex Sarr doesn’t look as skilled, talented, or cerebral as KG is blasphemous, more power to you. Im sure this is some stand on your best class ever thing or whatever lmfao.

I guess we can check back in a few years from now and see if Sarr is finishing as a top scorer, multiple rebounding champ, and leading pf/C’s in assists while being a DPOY candidate. I like my chances, but I’ll happily admit im wrong.

I never compared him to KG btw. He's nowhere near that level of talent imho. He's Mobley 2.0. Just pointing out that if someone DOES believe they're similar, Sarr is equaling his rookie production but also shooting threes. So maybe less smarminess since their take is more spot on than someone talking out their behind like you

Since Dec 1 he has a TS of 56% so at least he is trending in the right direction. His shooting motion looks more compact than it did early in the year.

His big problem on offense right now is finishing from 3-10 feet. On D he is soft but if he plays at the 4 that is less of a problem.

He's playing better and has real skills and athleticism. If he continues to work he'll be a quality starter in a few years and perhaps somewhat more.
