2025 Dallas Cowboys Off-Season

Well we might as well get some draft talk going. The ‘Boys look like that are going to end up with a top 5 pick.

If they stick with the pick I think they will go with a defensive player. The top 2 defensive guys I’m looking at right now are:

Abdul Carter - Edge - Penn St

Mason Graham - DT - Michigan

Not sure about a top 5 pick yet.

Oh they’re definitely out of the top 5 pick range. I mentioned a few days ago in one of the other threads that they likely pick between 10-15 but with yesterday’s win and looking at the remaining schedule they likely end up picking between 15-20. They have so many needs that every pick should just be best available player regardless of position.

Well I heard a new name today as far as potential coaches that Jerry could hire if he decides not to resign McCarthy (or if MM decides he’s done with the Cowboys). That name is Jon Gruden.

He doesn’t fit the mold of coach that Jerry likes to hire. He’s been trying to get back into the NFL coaching circle and would no doubt jump at a chance to coach the Cowboys. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing though. He is the fiery disciplinarian coach this team needs but he’s also pretty wheels off.

lol would the other owners even go for that? He tried to sue the league. His days of ever working in the NFL again seem to be over.

He seems destined to work in media (Barstool).

Man - I dug Gruden in his hey day. But now… he comes across as a self promoter and a lot of that shine from 20 years ago is gone. He wouldn’t be my pick but I guess it Jerry’s s looking down the list at 493 of 500 remaining coaches to hire his name would jump out there…

The rumor is that Jerry does want to bring MM back however don’t forget that he’s also a free agent and can pick any team (that makes him an offer). And he WILL have offers. There is a chance that Jerry puts all his eggs in the MM basket and at the last minute MM chooses to walk away, leaving Jerry high and dry scrambling for a HC. If that happens the Gruden rumor becomes more real.

No way that MM is back in Dallas next season, but apparently Dallas hasn't responded to the Bear's request.

They are probably still mulling over options. No reason to rush anything.

Apparently they denied the Bears the opportunity to interview McCarthy. That tells me they do want to keep MM and considering his contract is up as of Jan. 14 that also tells me they want his contract done by then.

If they do keep him will they bring in a new OC? I know there was a lot of chatter towards the end of the season about MM’s lack of motion in his offense. Who could they bring in?

I still don't think they will keep him. I think they just want the option of him there in case plan A, B, and C don't fall through.

I’m with you… I think he stays and helps transition this thing into the next era whatever that era might be.

That’s a good question and hopefully one that that falls into the “grooming for the future” category. I personally would be looking at that Shanahan / McVay coaching tree. Sure seems to be a lot of fruit waiting to be picked.

There’s a chance Zac Taylor gets fired in Cincy. I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about the lack of creativity in his offense though.
