Heat/Bucks - Jimmy for Dame

Post#1 » by mademan » Mon Jan 6, 2025 9:51 pm

Heat trade Jimmy and 2 2nd round picks and receive Dame

Bucks trade Dame and Marjon and receive Butler

Pistons trade top 55 protected 2nd and receive Marjon +2 2nd's

For Heat: Simple, trade Butler and get an equal talent back. Feels like a win

For Bucks: About a season and a half of the Dame experiment and they have to start thinking about pulling the plug and trying something new. You cant continue to waste the prime of an all time great in Giannis. Butler increases their ceiling, imo, and makes them much tougher to beat

For Pistons: Pick up a pair of 2nds to eat 2 months of a contract

It needs a third team, Milwaukee needs to lose one of Portis or Connaughton and replace them with a vet min to get below second apron.

And should lay a bit extra to make it Connaughton.

That might make it tougher. I dont see many teams taking Pat's contract next year unless there's a 1st attached and i dont think either Miami or Milwaukee adds a 1st here

Milwaukee out: Dame, Connaughton, 2031 top 4 protected 1st
Milwaukee in: Butler, HOU 2025 1st

Miami out: Butler
Miami in: Dame

Brooklyn out: HOU + NYK 2025 1st
Brooklyn in: lightly protected 2031 MIL top 4 protected 1st

Detroit out: fake 2nd
Detroit in: Connaughton, NYK 2025 1st

I can't see Milwaukee doing this, Dame is a much better fit next to Giannis than Butler would be.

Also, Dame wanted to play with Bulter, not Herro.

NO WAY as a Bucks fan. I mean if I would do this:

Grizz get: Jimmy and M.Beaucamp
Heat get: Dame, B.Lopez, and L. Kennard
Bucks get: Herro, M.Smart, K.Ware, S.Aldama, B.Clarke, 29 1st Heat

Ideally Bucks would move Portis and Patty C for a Center.

My shot at it would be like..

Dame, Simone, Moore, Connaughton to Miami
Butler, Sasser, Alec to Milwaukee
Rozier, Richardson, AJ Johnson to Detroit

Seems to get Milwaukee under the second apron. Hope between Green, Sasser, Alec, Wright you get enough quality minutes? Hope for a buyout?

Uses all of Det’s cap space/roomMLE on an old and a rookie guard. And Miami gets Dame and under the first apron while cleaning up most of Terry’s money..

Then you decide…

“Terry can bounce back and helps fill in for Ivey, Detroit should want him”
- Miami gets Milwaukee 2031 top 6 protected first

“Terry is overpaid, why would Det take him and swap Sasser for a new rookie”
- Det gets Milwaukee 2031 top 6 protected first

I suspect the Bucks are offering Middleton, filler, and a pick.

The HEAT pass on this vehemently. Dame for Butler straight up is more realistic but I'm still not a fan of that contract/age/output combo. That being said, Jimmy's contract situation when he extends has the potential of being horrific.

Detroit would need a lot of incentive to use up it's cap space on the back court, the one place we don't need much help, and I don't see anyone adding the FRP needed to entice Detroit

If someone is looking to slough off $8-10M, they should look at sending SRPs to CHO, WAS or TOR who can use their NTMLE to absorb. Just ignore DET (who should say "no") on small deals.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

The Nets might do it for a first rounder or at least to swap one of their lesser first rounders with Miami this year.

For that swap they might even throw a second rounder into the pot.

I think the offer is Middleton, filler, and a 1st, not Dame.

It would have to be Middleton/Brolo and another smallish contract i think. With a 1st, Miami probably does it, but the Bucks FC becomes very thin

Oh... I'm confused, the thread is Butler for Dame. I didn't realize Middleton wanted to play with Butler. Either way, I wouldn't be interested in a Middleton for Butler swap if I were the HEAT.

I don’t think Terry counts as a small deal at all and do think a 2031 first is good value. Terry is a lot of salary but a good fit this season behind/next to Beasley working off of Cade. And then maybe he gets packages for a different position or maybe he returns to form and the team falls in love. Who knows.

But I would side with Detroit getting the first as Miami gets Dame out of it versus going back and forth with Phoenix and Houston and etc..

Just a random bad idea though.
