Miami- Phx- Cha

Post#1 » by JMAC3 » Mon Jan 6, 2025 9:41 pm

Phoenix trades: Bradley Beal, 2031 unprotected and 3 2nds
Phoenix gets Jimmy Butler

Charlotte trade: Bridges, Martin and Josh Green
Charlotte receives: Bradley Beal and Suns 2031 pick if 1-20, plus 1 2nd

Miami trades Jimmy Butler
Miami receives: Miles Bridges, Cody Martin, Josh Green. Suns 2031 1st if 21-30 plus 2 2nds.

Phoenix is the big winner here.
Charlotte takes a 100% gamble.
Miami gets 3 rotation pieces to help now and some pick value.

This deal is probably too bad for Charlotte to be honest, but the goal would be to add a 3rd first round pick, sit on Beal for a 1.5 years and then use his salary as a big trade piece along with those bonus 1sts they have collected.

Can you legally trade a pick like that?

So if the pick if 1-20, CHA gets it, but if the pick is 21-30 PHX gets it. I have never heard of a pick being traded like that?

Miami is much better off telling Butler to stay home, even if he opts in next season.

I don't think it is very good either, but would Miami rather take on Beal then add 3 rotation pieces?

No, we'd rather trade him to a different team

This is salvageable if Miles goes to a team like the Pistons for T. Harris+ or Stewart IMO. Miami keeps its books clear for 2026. Maybe the Suns pick up another first swapping Allen for a bad contract.

I think Beal says no regardless though.

I mean yeah, but the Heat messed this up big time and now teams aren't offering much for Jimmy.

What is the best offer in the clubhouse right now?

This is another one where it’s better if Butler just doesn’t get traded. Maybe the offers are better in the offseason when teams have a bit more freedom. Or maybe he opts out. Better than having the three slightly-to not so slightly overpaid Hornets.

I suggested the base of the CLT package so shouldn’t talk too poorly about it, I don’t think the package can be converted into Butler..

Miami needs to be the team getting the first IMO.. and Phoenix probably should be allowed to put top 2-3 protection on it..

I think CLT should do their trade with Dunn and 2nds.

If Bridge is seen as value, think you jump lump together the bench expirings and leave Bridges out of it. Miami should happily take the tax relief next season.

But Miami keeps saying they don’t want bad contracts, looking to 2026 when they potentially have a max slot open, etc. trading for these three really doesn’t fit that.

Phoenix can't aggregate with Beal, so they can't even use Dunn to sweeten the pot for Charlotte or Miami in a Beal trade.

Unless Miami takes Beal, then a 3rd team needs to be involved. That 3rd team needs to get compensated for taking on the worst contract in the league.

Is there a 3rd team that will both take Beal and give Miami something better than Bridges, Martin and Green?

If not then I guess we should just kill all the Butler ends in Phoenix talk now.

awful value for Charlotte. i don't even hate us as a Beal destination but we'd have to be well compensated

awful for Miami as well if Bridges doesn't regain form
investigate Adam Silver

Is Beal willing to go to CLT? Cause that can kill all of it anyways.

But on topic. - Dunn can easily be traded after the deal is done and CLT has the matching ability. I doubt the league would really hassle over that kind of thing. It’s not needed for the Butler/Beal trade to be legal, and that’s what the rule was made to stop…

But if someone cries over it? Just send Jeffries or Taj to Phoenix for Dunn. easy.

As far as Beal to CLT.

Grant and Green combine to be over half of Beal’s albatross. And they are worse value until Grant’s leg is healed and he plays again. If CLT wants to wait, sure. He might work his way to neutral value? Or he’ll be the negative player that Dallas paid CLT to take.

Bridges is… a really talented player that has played awful. For an extended period. And was paid in the hopes of being a version of himself that he isn’t and hasn’t been for a long time. And then there’s the off court issues.

Now I agree. I posted it a few hours ago. CLT is owed something for going from 3 manageable-bad contracts to the worst in the league.

But they aren’t owed as much as Miami.

Charlotte or Detroit are really the only 2 teams for Beal that make any sense.

Tobias Harris and THJ seems like a much worse haul to me than Bridges, Green and Martin.

Portland has Grant.

Chicago has LaVine.

Houston has Jalen Green.. (maybe he doesn’t belong here yet)

And Beal has a NTC.

But the difference between Detroit’s and CLT’s packages and why Det’s is much more attractive.. They expire a year earlier.

Are they tho? If they miss PO this year they lose 26 and 28 unprotected firsts. So kinda depends how good they expect to be with him sitting at home and no replacements coming in. I think they have to trde him even if the return is less favourable

I think this return actively makes them worse and the compensation is a first they may never get. Plus they now have the PR headache of Bridges.
