it didn't work out either way with Jae, but sometimes it's a pride thing and being traded resets expectations. he refused to play for the sun's wanting an extension but he played here and resigned. he was crap but didn't hold it against the bucks for not giving him an extension. then again, jimmy is a psycho so who knows

Other way to look at it:

Could Miami be desperate enough to take the risk Khris can get himself better together under Heat Culture rather than being an egregiously overpaid injured mess the next season and a half?

If I knew Middleton could be Robert Horry just in the playoffs (much less Manu Ginobili) I’d feel much better about our status.

But it’s a big change seeing where he’s at this long after his latest surgeries.

So is the plan to let Dame walk in 2 years or is he going to be looking for another deal too? I’m leaning towards just paying Jimmy because I simply think he’s a better fit than Dame and want to be a defensive oriented team again. We’re already at the end of the rope and I don’t think it’s going to get better with Dame so I’m not really worried about the downside here. If there’s a better deal for Dame I’m all for it but I think he’s gotta be the one to go to improve the team.

If Dame goes who is your PG?

I do not give Dame another contract. In 2 years we have a new team around 32 year old Giannis. Or maybe a new team without Giannis if he balks.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I’d rather keep Bobby over Brook but I guess at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter that much. I’d think Brooks skill set and large expiring number would be more sought after but maybe not. What does Brooks expiring contract do for us if we just let it expire? Is that beneficial to our cap situation at all?

It would be nice to bring in another ball handler if one is available cheap but I’m not too concerned about who brings the ball up and initiates the offense since it’s mostly isos anyways so I want mostly someone that can defend and hit an open shot. Rollins might work. I think there are some really versatile line ups the Bucks could throw out there in this scenario.

I do think we will be in the Jimmy trade but not getting Jimmy.

I think Heat don't want Mids and Portis.

I see something like this:

Heat get: B.Ingram, and B.Clarke, 26 1st (Phx, Orlando, or Wiz) via Grizz

Pelicans get: Brook, L.Kennard, J.LaRavia, 27 1st via Mem

Grizz get: Jimmy. K.Love, AJ Green, and A. Reaves

Bucks get: M.Smart, and Aldama

Smart is having a down year but still is a defensive beast. Santi is a good young big for us. I do think we would then look to trade Portis and Patty C for a starting center.

Heck if the Lakers called wanting Dame, and GTJ. I might do a trade with them with AR15, Rui, Vanderbilt, and someone else and draft picks our way.

Beal's timeline for this didn't match reality. He's a liar. It was Jrue who was being traded.

Smart is the most overrated player in the league, and was never a defensive beast. His teams were routinely better with him off the floor, because he spends all his time foul baiting rather than defending.

Aldama is a really interesting player though. Still rising. Weird positional fit, but still good and super versatile offensively.

Try something where others get stuck with Smart.

Not really. It doesn't create any cap room, and we only get to the edge of the tax.

One of the huge problems for Jimmy if we was traded to Milwaukee is the same problem Dame has had. Jimmy #1 skill is foul baiting, and that won't work here.

Jimmy and Mids per 36 numbers are almost identical, with Mids having the advantage in both assists and rebounds. Jimmy's big advantage is in TS%, entirely driven by his foul baiting.

Also should remind that Jimmy has averaged under 60 games a year the last 7 years.

I would extend Jimmy until 2026/27 which is Dame's option year. Giannis is 33 27/28 season so blowing it all up that Summer is viable.

If the Suns are aggressively trying to trade for Jimmy...this is exactly what they'd do to start the process priming Beal to get traded wherever.

To be clear I don't know why any team would take him. And Beal coming off the bench makes sense on the merits, but in tandem with Gambo hearing the Bucks and Grizzlies are moving on Jimmy, I can see it all being connected.

Beal's "I'm a starter" delusions of grandeur is a point for 'dude's crazy enough to straight lie about the Bucks trade scenario' theory too.

"One-hundred percent," was Beal's answer when asked if he was surprised that Budenholzer was moving him to the bench.

"I’m a starter in the league," Beal said. "I firmly believe that. I don’t believe that — no disrespect to anyone, but I’m a starter. That’s what I firmly believe. But Coach made his decision. I’m not gonna sit here and argue with it. I’m not gonna sit here and be a distraction. I’m not gonna sit here and be an a–hole. He made his decision. I live with it. He’s the coach, know what I’m saying? I just gotta go out and play my game, and whatever happens from there, happens from there."

Budenholzer said the move was made, because the Suns had to do something different. He also said that the lineup change is not a temporary or "day-to-day thing".

As far as trade rumors go, Beal knows that his no-trade clause allows him to control the trade process.

“If so, I need to be addressed because I hold the cards,” Beal said about a potential trade away from Phoenix. “So, until I’m addressed and somebody says something differently, then I’ll be a Sun.”

In recent years, Toronto has made some bizarre trades for veterans despite being not good. They've traded 1sts for both Thad Young and Kelly Olynyk.

Now they just waived a non guaranteed contract to open a roster spot. Could they do us a huge solid and take Pat in to their MLE? I'll even throw in a 2nd of they throw us 2 way player Jamison Battle.

Let's enjoy these times where we are in the mix for big moves like this. It's fun and entertaining. Life before Giannis was miserable and after might not be so great either so let's enjoy it :D. Bring on Jimmy let's go out in a blazee.

I fear no one is taking Connaughton for free.

Bobby yes but I could see the Heat highly valuing him in the Jimmy scenario.

Pistons got a lot of leverage as the only cap space team and most of the others who have trade exceptions or an open MLE would fall in to other apron restrictions if they'd do it.

If a team has a trade exception or open MLE but is (or would be) hard capped after using it, can they not use it any more?

Spotrac says the Hawks, Kings, Nets, Pelicans and Mavs can't take on a salary as big as Pat for that reason.

Wizards and Bulls could take on Pat but not Bobby.

Grizzlies, Trail Blazers, Raptors, Rockets, Cavs and Jazz could take either.

We can do it all in 1 deal. We'd need to find a team that would take Bobby or Dame in to the MLE or a TPE, or Detroit could take them in to cap space. Detroit would want draft compensation to take Pat. We could also deal Dame for Jimmy, but would still need to drop below the 2nd apron because of a slight contractual difference.

I'm guessing the Bucks have teams that will trade for Bobby giving up draft compensation, but haven't pulled the trigger simply because we didn't have a target for that draft compensation. Wouldn't be shocked at PJ Tucker getting sent back to Miami in this deal.

Yep.

There are definitely a number of options for the Bucks to be able to acquire Butler.

Some people are being too dismissive of the possibilities, due to the Bucks over the second apron status. Horst likes to get creative. He enjoys it. He's the kind of salary cap and CBA sicko that I am, haha.

There are a number of different paths.
