So if Jimmy is forcing his way to Phoenix, and no one will take Beal, does Phoenix move Booker? Like Booker and Nurkic for Jimmy and a new center?

I can't see it. They'll only move Booker when they finally blow it up to replenish some draft stock. At least, that would be the non-insane thing to do. Although who knows? I mean, we know Bud loves Brook....

Tough to make the money when for Brook, but how about Bobby?

Suns send Grayson to Pistons, with us both sending draft compensation to Detroit. We get Duren, and get under the 2nd apron.

I think Jimmy would be a good fit in Phoenix especially relative to Beal, them being willing to pay Jimmy I think is the main determining factor here tho. Obvious Jimmy want to get paid, I think he'd play hard as a rental just to stick it to everybody and secure the bag but that's definitely not his preference.

Been two years since KD demanded a trade, just saying. He has to know he's not getting a title there and his clock is ticking

Im trying to see if there is a 2026 play here for Miami but it looks like FA class is really weak. Even if they tank the next 1.5 years, who could they get? Does Luka have any interest in Miami? Would he lose money by going the FA route?
Tanking this year, their floor is probably 8th spot in the lottery (assuming PHX and Philly try to make the playoffs at some point), which is ~25% chance at a top 4 pick.

Miami isn't really a place that tanks. They have the ability to draw too many FAs to tank. Financial flexibility I could see as being benefit though.

Is it possible we're not even offering the 2031 first in the Jimmy package?

At the least I could see us requiring Miami to send a second or two to a third team helping us drop Connaughton.

"We are at a genuine stalemate," said Windhorst. "I don't know how it's going to play out. The Heat are preparing internally for this to last past suspension. Not because they have some sort of sinister motive but because they know what offers they've gotten and they stink."

Butler can't just walk this summer. We'd either support a sign and trade to a preferred destination or we're looking at a 'James Harden opts in and demands a trade only to the Clippers scenario'.

Yes we stared down Dame and the Raptors came out ahead with Kawhi but this level of drama certainly gets calculated into the equation.

I just don't see them being a draw with herro, an aging bam and cap space. Luka is the only FA I can see available. I don't disagree Miami is a Top 3 FA destination but who is actually available? whereas if in 2026 they have the cap space to offer Luka and have the #1-2 pick available to trade to a Central Division team with a super star on the last year of his deal and no other assets, you might have something.

Does he care about a title anymore? I thought the last trade was just to control where he lived.

I had figured Jimmy Butler lost the clown routine by coming out and claiming he just wanted out of Miami and was willing to go hard after a title wherever he landed.. now he’s making demands and trying to force his way to a specific destination, Phoenix of all places?

Jimmy Butler pretty much got Bud fired from Milwaukee. It was the series Butler single handedly mopped up Jrue Holiday and everything Bud threw at him that didn’t work and ultimately got him canned. Now he’s only willing to go play for him?

I’ll never understand that type of stuff. KD, Booker, Royce O’Neal, Monte Morris and some rookies is your preferred destination? Thats honestly laughable. **** Jimmy Butler if that’s true.

Just read a tweet that the Heat lose 2 unprotected 1sts in the next 4 years if they don't make the playoffs.

If the recent reports that Mia is getting trash offers is true, the type of things Ron here has been theorizing would likely be the top offer as of now

MIA's 1st round pick to OKC protected for selections 1-14 in 2025 and unprotected in 2026 (via LAC) [LAC-MIA, 7/6/2019; LAC-OKC, 7/10/2019; MIA-OKC, 2/9/2022]

MIA's 1st round pick to CHA protected for selections 1-14 in 2027, conveyable if MIA conveys a 1st round pick to OKC in 2025, and unprotected in 2028 [CHA-MIA, 1/23/2024]
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Even if Riley got a great deal, I'd wager he'd leak "all offers are trash" first.

In terms of the Heat making the playoffs, our offer has to be close to the best. Middleton/Portis/Lopez/AJJ/Green/GTJ/Prince whatever combo of that I'd imagine is better than whatever PHX can put together.

Finding a team to take Beal period even aside from whether he'd agree to go is the biggest impediment I'm seeing for the Suns.

They'd have to give up players / contracts Miami wants too.

Is there a bigger albatross in the NBA?

Zach LaVine is paid less, two years younger and doesn't have a no-trade clause.

Can we stop and just think about something though?

I like Jimmy more than Khris at the moment simply because hes more healthy and can theoretically play better defense. But is Jimmy a good fit between Dame and Giannis? I know hes not heliocentric but can he play off ball?

Butler has grown into a glue guy that sets up his teammates to their strengths like LBJ.. Dame is trying to get there rn. Because of that, Butler wont be a bad fit on any team and also still can dominate parts of games and get to the line at will -- which is important in winning playoff games. Also, he's not settling for bad shots and won't let his teammates take bad shots.
