I really liked it for Philly. And this is not a well laid out or thought out post.
Going to call it
Kevin Durant for Paul George, Reggie Jackson, 2026 OKC first, 2028 LAC first, 2029 Phil (top 4 protected in 2029 (has swap option with LAC 2029, unprotected 2030)
Reggie Jackson and cash or a 2nd round swap to whatever team you think does it. (Any non-tanking/playoff team should)
Philly gets to go into playoffs feeling like they have the two best players on the court against most teams? Or 2 of the best 3? Either way. They go from a contender to a favorite. And get off the probable-ugly part of Paul George’s contract as an added bonus.
Phoenix could just keep the lesser star and keep trying for two years and then decide to retool around Booker or rebuild.
Now let’s say Phoenix wants to keep PG, but tank this season
Houston: 2025 Phoenix first
Houston: 2026 OKC first, 2029 Phil (top 4 protected in 2029 (has swap option with LAC 2029, unprotected 2030)
Houston uses their leverage to allow Phoenix to tank for 8th this season. They gain a late first next year and a high variance first.
Phoenix lets Philly pass them and hopes for lottery luck. Next season they’ll have PG and Booker and whatever else to continue their win now push but keep a top 8 pick and Dunn to start to retool with Beal looking mad.
But does Houston trade a potential lottery pick for Paul George?
Paul George, 2026 OKC first for whatever salaries Houston wants and the 2025 Phoenix first? That seems like an okay deal for Houston as PG is a good fit for the kids now and they maintain the future Phoenix firsts.
But let’s say you put Jabari in the salary pile and if you add the 2029 Philly/LAC first?
Phoenix calls Jabari, 2025 first, Dunn a young core and ignores their pick debt? Uses 2nds/Tyus to dump 1-2 of Houston’s expirings on Detroit or Washington or whoever to save a lot of money?
Call it Jeff Green, Adams, Tyus and (Tate into roomMLE) for Simone and Moore? A 2nd or two? Detroit gets 3 NBA bench players on expiring contracts for a playoff run, Phoenix trims over 20 million dollars?
KD for Paul George again?

Yea I honestly think its a trade that makes sense for both teams, and both players

Yeah. I just dont think Phoenix can get better enough to justify fully crippling themselves, so would just take Paul George and try to be a playoff team with some youth hopefully developing.
Everything after that in the OP is just sloppy, unrealistic RealGM fun.

Re: KD for Paul George again?
Sixers IMO would do PG and three 1sts for either KD or Booker, with HOU involved or without.

Think the 3 first value was your idea? But I think Philly would be able to put a bit of protection on the 2029 first.
Don’t think Phoenix fully blows it up, just think a step back makes sense for them.

Philly dumping 3 1sts for kd at this point is crazy to say the least. Crazy enough it just might happen
Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.

I think you guys are crazy. Durant is turning 37 this year and makes 54.7 million dollars and his team is losing!
He has nowhere close to this kinda value!
Please keep in Phoenix. Let them stink for the next 2 years.1

Yeah, I really don’t like Philly giving up the 2029 first here, but couldn’t think of another piece to add.
When I saw the other thread, I thought what value goes in if it’s George and McCain for Durant. I think McCain has a lot of value and Phoenix would love to get him next to Booker long term.
Philly would be trading McCain’s upside for keeping the LAC picks.. maybe a bad idea but maybe not if you don’t trust Joel to last 4-5 more years.

Yep because Morey would give 4 1sts & McCain for KD & you know it.
