Pacers/Bulls/Warriors/Nets combining rumors

Post#1 » by NW » Wed Jan 8, 2025 9:34 pm

Warriors trade: Looney, Hield, SloMo, GP2, lotto protected 2025 1sr
Receive: Vucevic, Nesmith, Craig

Bulls trade: Vucevic, Craig, Duarte
Receive: Hield, SloMo, Obi Toppin, GS protected 1st, 2 Pacers seconds

Pacers trade: Nesmith, Toppin 1 first, 2 2nds
Receive: Cam Johnson

Nets trade: Cam Johnson
Receive Looney, GP2, Duarte, Pacers first.

Reasoning:
Warriors rumored to be focusing on a stretch 5 and additional 3 and D wing in trade. Vucevic and Nesmith have been mentioned. They get both without trading young talent or post Steph draft picks.

Bulls get a first for Vuc. Hield and SloMo have longer contracts, but much of the money is non guaranteed. Get the seconds for taking on Toppin.

Pacers reportedly pursuing Cam Johnson but Nets don’t want Nesmith or Toppin contracts. GS and Bulls help by sending Nets their expirings, Pacers send first and get their man

Nets get first and expirings for Cam. Seems his likely price by reports

OP thinks nesmith and toppins are negative value/worth less than expiring?

I think they fetch back more than the GSW expirings.

Think Nets won’t take them for in a Cam deal. If they can get more that the Nets will take back in trade like expirings and picks, cool. Not sure that’s the case in this market

Remember, the Pacers rumors are that “other teams think that Indy might eventually get involved” while Stein/Fischer surmised that if Indy got involved, the salary matching options are essentially Obi/Nesmith, and they surmise that Brooklyn would also want a pick in any deal.

I can tell you from what I’ve gathered, Indy valued Nesmith/Obi higher than Cam Johnson. Indy gets looped as a possibility in a lot of trades because Indy talks to everybody all the time. It’s partially how they jumped in to get TJ Warren, Caris Levert, and then move Levert for picks. They just talked a lot and are ready to jump in if something piques their interest.

But there’s no specific rumor that says Indy is offering Nesmith/Obi and a pick for Cam Johnson. And I really doubt they would.

If the Nets like Nesmith and Toppin for the long haul they might just deal with the Pacers directly and cut out the other teams.

Now the bulls have maybe 1 player to that maybe play center, Kevon Looney would have to come to the bulls or include the Knicks and send Mitchell Robinson to the bulls and some bench players for the Knicks, ( Kyle Anderson, Buddy Hield and Torey Craig ) for example

Let's start off with talent wise too good for the Bulls. Toppin probably walks in to the start at the 4 and is happy. This moves Williams to the bench because they still have White, Giddey and Lavine to start so either they make the next big trade or look like idiots for recently resigning Williams.

So without a Lavine trade getting Hield is a not a very smart move he's behind Lonzo Ball and while a better scorer than Ayo not the defender. Anderson moves even one seat farther down the bench unless going to claim he could be rerouted. Yes the pick is attractive but they probably win enough games to lose the play in game and miss the #10 pick

So sure the Bulls don't give up much but can't use half of what they get and push some of their young rotation guys down the bench, for what a late 1st?
