Want to preface that I have not done the exercise of figuring out who the all-stars should be and Cade def should be in the running (I like him better than Ball, Herro, and maybe Trae).
I would actually like to hear the argument for Cade way over Garland. I think its closer than ppl are giving it credit for. A big storyline for the Cavs has been Kenny limiting the starter minutes so Garland has played only about 30 mins per night whereas Cade is at 35 mins per night. Cade's per game stats pop compared to Garland, but when comparing per possession they look a lot more similar.
Per 100
Garland: 33.3 pts / 10.7 ast / 111 TS+
Cade: 33.2 pts / 12.7 ast / 96 TS+
Cade has a better on-off at +4.2, whereas Garland has +2.6, but when Garland is on the bench Mitchell is playing so there isn't going to be a huge drop off.
Just food for thought bc I think it challenges the idea of how we want to award all-stars. And I will say you should reward players for what happens on the court so I can't fault Cade for playing 5 more minutes per night.
