There been clashes between the Heat business management side and Butler. Butler expect and gets off-court privileges and business access or perks for him and his partners from the Heat organization but in return he doesn’t participate or rarely participate in any of the Heat off court business activities. He doesn’t want to be a spokesman for the organization like Marino was for the Dolphins or, Shaq and Wade was for the Heat. He wants that to continue and get paid as if he is a spokesman as he ages.
I understand your point but it still doesn’t answer the question I’m asking.
Draymond is implying that Jimmy is tired of the team and it’s been years in the making and I’m trying to get to the bottom of what specific aspect he is tired of.
If he’s already mostly not involved with the team’s non basketball business activities then how could he be tired of them?
let's say Butler is a supervisor of a department. There is two relationship he has, there is his department team and there is management team. Your department production is excellent and his personal sales numbers are excellent, best sales department in the company but the relationship and duties with management is horrible. That relationship with management team can make him or any person tired of working there. You skip a lot of management meetings or lunch ins or network events, or when you do you don't say much etc. Upper management hasn't forced you but they are constantly trying the get you to work with lower management. Your raise is coming and you know the issue with management is coming up. You don't want to improve your relationship with management, you want max raise solely on department performance. The CEO at a company meeting makes a statement about everyone needs to work together which you know is a known beef you are having. A lot of times that person will say f that I'm tired of it. Let me go elsewhere who will pay me solely for the dept production.
From Butler perspective he doesn't care for the management duties. Has no real interest in that side of the job. He feels the company needs him regardless because of the sales numbers. He feels they need to stop harassing him about anything outside the department.
Off the court responsibilities is a big part of nba players responsibilities. The inter workings and relationships of that is not talked about by the media. The media sticks with on court coverage unless something becomes public like a lawsuit or arrest etc. However, there are players who have been cut or traded because of this part of the job. Look at Boston former coach Udoka. Look how vague his incident was covered. Had nothing to do with on court production.
Fair but I dont suspect that's what Draymond was alluding to when he said that Jimmy has been tired of them for years.
I suspect it's more related to to team's inability to follow through on their stated mission to him of landing star level players to paly alongside him.
