guy in the OP is the anti thibs. plays players is short stints, asks them to give max effort for a short time rather than consistent effort for a long time
extensive rotations, lots of different actions. would explain why Memphis is #1 in bench mpg, ppg, 3p%, #3 in bench FG% and +/-

Team has regressed lately. The NBA has them scouted and of course Thibs can't adjust to the adjustment.

Buck Showalter. Culture changer who gets regular seasons wins but won't get a team over the top

Brad Stevens coaching record was 354-282.
Guess what his playoff record was.
Especially on the road.

He's just inverse Mike _'Antoni, their records are eerily similar, Mike has a .560 winning percentage and sees a similar drop in the playoffs .491. Tom's playoff winning percentage is .447 and his career winning percentage is .579. Both of them are just versions of Mike Fratello who has a great regular season record and meh playoff record.
This is like an abusive relationship, you don't stay with someone that keys your car and tries to stab you just because you don't think you can find someone better.

Doesn’t matter to those who are complacent with the 2nd rd exits after the past decade of trash. That’s being loyal to a fault. For those of us who want to win a title, it’s easy to put our feelings aside for the greater good. I appreciate what Thibs has done for us, but he’s clearly not the guy to get us the title we’ve been waiting forever for.

Re: Thibs needs to go
Thibs is not whole until he has his interior and perimeter defenders in place. OG/Mikal been holding it down for the most part. Third key piece is Deuce whos been injured. If you remember Thibs was playing Deuce 42+ minutes a game for a big stretch last season. He trusts him as much as he trusts OG on defense. And then of course we have absolutely no interior defense in place AKA Mitch.
I want Thibs gone as much as the next person but this team will be a lot different when we are completely healthy. Just gotta hope once we get there everyone still has enough left in the tank to make a push.

We're on the road to matchup with the Celtics in the second round and he will be out coached by Mazzulla. They will come out with Jrue on KAT and KP or Horford on Hart and will stifle our offense while we continuously give up threes because he refuses to switch and has KAT in a drop.
We all know this is going to happen.

Re: Thibs needs to go
If the Knicks don't get to the Finals, my only glimmer of hope that Thibs is gone after this season is that Leon really is a good evaluator and actually won't mind firing his good friend BECAUSE of the 3 year extension already in place.
Like, there's the nepotism that leads you to not fire a coach you know to be fatally flawed because he's your friend, but there's also the nepotism that makes you more ok to fire a fatally flawed coach that is your friend because you know it gives him $24M for free.

that would only be a kindness to us outsiders. because i bet thibs would burn $24M like the joker if it meant coaching the knicks in the finals.
RIP magnumt
thanks for everything, thibs.

There's not too many games where Thibs isn't outcoached, and I mean besides minutes allocation.
His teams win because they are drilled/prepared and generally win the turnover battle that the other less talented team generally inflicts on itself.
He gets outcoached in game regularly

Thibs won't get fired. He'll get moved to the front office, get a say in personnel, and before you know it the Knicks are rostering 12 Bruce Browns.

My problem with him other than minutes has always been that what he does works for the regular season, but in the playoffs everyone else ramps up their minutes his advantage goes out the window. It's no different than Mike _'Antoni teams playing at a fast pace and his teams being reliant on that while playoff basketball is played at a slow pace. He had no other way for his teams to play and adjust to.
That also shows up in Thibs playoff record, he has one of the largest drop offs from regular season to playoffs in NBA history. People just refuse to look at his history as a coach, all of his short comings have remained the same and the way his teams lose/fall apart hasn't changed in 15 years. But this time, yes this time will be different.
