Would be a lot easier for Heat just to take the Butler for Beal deal.

And if Pat Riley trades him to the Wizards for a bunch of contracts that expire before the summer of 2026, then what? They're presently the worst team in the NBA. Beal won't waive his NTC to go back. The Wizards probably get off of $50M in salary a year early and if he engages in conduct detrimental, they can suspend him.

Well Heat can acquire Beal under the stipulation that he no longer has an NTC.

They can definitely do better...some other team will swoop in - just like Dame. For example, I'd rather take Ingram (even if he walks) or ANY of HOU's young talent. I just think Beal is a non-starter for multiple reasons...
-he's really not THAT good
-his contract is absolutely unbelievable and will haunt MIA for 2 whole years after this and he's already a creaky 31 years of age
-F**k Butler's "list of one"...Riley might be the only GM in the league who might say that out loud with microphones around

I don't see Beal agreeing to that, but his NTC aside his last year is a problem for the Heat. Right now, he's a replacement level guard (and that feels generous) on a max contract. They could play two seasons off his contract and it could still cost them a first to dump his final year.

This isn't even a lowball offer. It's just a bad one.

Well if he removes his NTC then the Heat can move him as an expiring deal in an SnT or in to space somewhere so they can acquire an FA in 2026 offseason.

There is no rationale to do this. He's one of the worst contracts in the league and doesn't even fit a need. Phoenix doesn't have the assets to get us take him for useless fodder, much less in exchange for Jimmy Butler! It's just a non-starter.

It's not our job to accommodate Phoenix/Jimmy and screw ourselves over in the process. The price is the price.
