Good one!

Over the 20+ years on RealGM, I have seen news come out a day or two after RealGM posters debate hypothetical trades way too often. This is a real good "source" to create articles to get clicks from.

Yeah i remember that as well. Usually in the GB discussions then all of a sudden, articles are being written with almost the same exact content in the thread.

Ah... sorry. its a joke for the OG here.

During the dwight era we were desperate for trades because we felt we were only a player away from the ring even against the LBJ/BOS/LA opponents.

Thus we had numerous comedic thread and one of them is :

Cold Plunge thread - where a poster ( I forgot who ) apparently went to the pool/jacuzzi/whatever with Gortat( I think ) in a cold plunge and tried to pump him for some inside info. He shared it with us here. If i remember correctly.

My realgm payroll attests to this

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Are we in the DeAaron Fox sweepstake?

Fox could be a good fit to us. We need his scoring on the perimeter. Haven't watched a lot of his game live. But he is definitely someone who can elevate this team by scoring alone.

Now Fox sweepstake is finally open. Should Magic go after him? It should be expensive, very expensive though. Probably one of Suggs or Franz plus 3 FRPs.

I would never trade Franz for Fox.

I mean, I say the same about Suggs.

But I really, really mean it when I say I would never trade Franz for Fox.

Me either. But that is probably the price. Plus Franz will be an All Star this year. Heck no, and I am staying with Franz. lol

Read on Twitter

Considering what sources say they’re looking for, Suggs would be at minimum what they would want, maybe even TDS. I mean I think it would have to include either of those guys if we’re trying to compete with SA..

LOL no.

The trade package that Fox goes for it going to be a lot smaller than people think.

If the Kings offer Fox for Suggs straight up, Weltman will drive Suggs to the airport himself the same day.

They wouldn't.

Whether they should or shouldn't is debatable.

I’d like to see us trade for him but he is overrated by many. He is a fringe all-star. He is not a perennial all-star point guard like Dame or even Brunson.

Just for the sake of conversation...what would the value gap (what would ORL have to add ) be in a Suggs for Fox deal?

*Let's do the thread a favor and just not bother with 2 pages of all of the reasons ORL would never trade Suggs, please

...just a topic for discussion. A thought experiment that, at least, deserves discussion.

I think Suggs and one frp, with either A)Cole, Moe (waive) for salary matching -saves SAC a LOT of salary and risk of Fox walking

or

Suggs, Isaac, ORL 25 frp...I really like Isaac next to Sabonis (even in limited minutes). Derozan, Monk, and Carter can all be "enough" PG. Much like ORL, Sabonis IS the lead playmaker and is best surrounded by complementary players.

*I wouldn't do this, but I DO think Suggs would have some significant trade value - maybe even more than he should. To make a case that I don't really support....you could claim that his shooting from 3 last year was a fluke, he's a very weak ball handler and playmaker for others, and his playing style guarantees that he'll be spending a LOT of time on the DL (this IS a concern to me). Plus, his new deal is excessive for a defensive specialist. We have KCP to basically play Suggs' role and we'd NEED to move out one of our big deals to bring in another, better fitting one. If I had to bet on who is more likely to start and continue to hit 3's at 40% starting now, I'd have to go KCP, based on his career, over Suggs.
