Statistical anomaly or an indicator that bjj brought his team's habit of exiting early from the playoffs despite a great regular season record over to Chiefs Kingdom?

Oh they 1000% ensured the Bengals didn't make the playoffs and i don't blame them.QB_Eagles wrote:Top Pro Bowl vote getter sounds scared: https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/for-petes-sake/article298169503.html
It's the Bengals own fault.
Idk if Travis and the Chiefs were scared... They're back to back SB winners and won 15 games already this season.
I do think it is logical for them to not want to play the Bengals though. Why would anyone willingly let a team who had the guy with the most sacks in the NFL, the guy with the receiving triple crown, and the guy with the most passing TD & yards into the playoffs? It is one less difficult team the Chiefs potetinally have to face.
If the Bengals want to dethrone the Cheifs, they gotta earn it. They proved they can do it in 2022 and they were one fluke penalty away from doing it again in 2023.
It is now Allen's Bills and Lamar's Ravens who need to prove it. We all know they can't/won't but according to a poster here they're both better than Burrow, so prove it.

I would not have thought the Bengals were a factor if I didn't see that Denver game. The Chiefs were literally seemingly sipping tea and answering the phone during the game. Like purposely sabotaging the game. 38-0....ZERO!! Heck, even the giants would have at least got a field goal. So that leads me to believe that the Bengals were doomed and the design was their elimination

Most telling is that Carson Wentz didn't even have a fumble or INT. When the pressure is on, he usually has at least one turnover.

They would have rested starters no matter who was trying to get in the playoffs, but maybe play them a quarter or so if it was any other team.
Really a shame for Bengals, they dont/wont have that much talent very often.

Sounds like the Chiefs were being strategic. Eliminate an opponent without even having to play them. Sounds like a smart move to me. A clear example of how the Chiefs are playing chess while the rest of the league is playing checkers.

My only hope is that come the division round, the Chiefs starters will have not played since Christmas. So about 23 calendar days.El Turco wrote:They would have rested starters no matter who was trying to get in the playoffs, but maybe play them a quarter or so if it was any other team.

I am hoping this is a rest v rust situation and they come out rusty AF.
But it the Ravens and Bills take care of business then it will be the Texans or Chargers and i have no faith either can beat the Chiefs, even if rusty.
Chargers played em close both times but we'll have to see what officiating crew gets assigned. Stroud would have to play much better than he did in the lone loss.

I think Chargers can beat them, I'll give them 40 percent chance. Even Texans might have a chance if things line up.
We all expect them to flip the switch but at least on paper Chiefs are one of the worse no.1 seeds.

It sounds more like the Bengals lost 8 game on purpose so they avoid the playoffs altogether. Sometimes, you gotta start your vacations early
By the way, anyone giving the Bengal a chance against the Bills? IF THEY WERE IN

Are we trying to mimic the Laker fans on the GB with winning moral victories than actual victories? The only legitimate teams the Chiefs should worry about are the Buffalo Bills, who actually won against KC earlier, and Detroit Lions, who should be the SB favorites right now.

There are some on this board that LOVE moral victories. Actually winning the Super Bowl no longer matters to them, only that “they played well and tried hard”, and “they almost made it”.

Jacoby Brissett said, "Burrow only threw 43 yards more than I did, but at least I beat the Bengals. Why do I have to give up my starting spot to Drake Maye?"
Jayden Daniels said, "I barely missed 2 throws against the Bengals and I even ran for a touchdown. NFL is pretty easy."
Justin Herbert said, "Here Cincinnati, have your little comeback first. We don't wanna blow you guys out, we'd rather go for throat at the last second."

Yeah, if the Chiefs failed to Three-Peat because the opponents scored on the last drive in the Super Bowl, it's just the same outcome as losing in the Divisional round. So the Chiefs should do like the Cowboys and get it over with early.

I kind of felt bad since the Eagles don't have to worry winning the SB this year, Barkley should have went for the record for his own sake. In a world where teams disrespect the running back market so much, this would have been the perfect time to break a record in order to cement his legacy

Like last year's Eagles didnt happen. Or Steelers of two years ago. or 2011 Packers. or 2019 Saints. or 2019 Ravens.
Just about every year there is a team who looks statistically or otherwise worse than its record indicates. They tend to lose early.

I thought last week you said Cowboys "showed heart" how is that any different than "they played well"?
