I'm not familiar with the G League nor the Winter showcase. I'll probably watch a whole lot of the Mad Ants when their arena is build, something about them having their own facility intrigues me.
So the winter showcase is the top 8 teams? Rest play in scrimmages type and then after the season starts from scratch again?
The Westchester Knicks won the championship game (rightfully so)as they’re loaded with a mix of 2024 draftees and 3 nba experienced players.
T.J. Warren 24 points
Moses Brown 14 points and 16 rebounds
Tyler Kolek 22 points and 11 assists
Chuma Okeke
Pacome Dadiet
Ariel Hukporti
I didn’t recognize 2 undrafted players who also contributed 16 points apiece
Donovan Williams and Damion Baugh.
Wow. And Moses Brown. Damn.
Last note i will say, it was nice to see Okafor have the game he did today and Friday (i didnt think he was that good friday but finished with decent numbers) but after the game they interviewed him on nbatv and he mentioned last year he tore his achilles last year at the winter showcase. Nice rebound for him, physically and mentally.
From the G league website.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 8, the league’s 31 teams will be separated into four regional pods and will play 14 games against one another in NBA G League markets. The teams with the best winning percentage in each regional pod, along with the next four teams across the league with the best winning percentages, will play for the Winter Showcase Championship during the NBA G League Winter Showcase presented by The General Insurance. The remaining teams will each play two games outside of the Showcase Cup Tournament during the event.
The Mad Ants weren’t in the top 8 in the preseason pod play so they played 2 games outside of the winter showcase tournament 8 teams.
I didn’t remember the following.
Following the NBA G League Winter Showcase presented by The General Insurance, team records will reset and the 34-game regular season will tip off on Friday, Dec. 27, bringing each team’s total games played to 50.
