Denver/Clippers

Post#1 » by youngthegiant » Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:03 pm

Denver Trades: Julian Strawther, Zeke Nnaji, 2031 1st rd pick(top 4 protection)

Clippers Trade: Derrick Jones Jr.

Why: Denver gets the extra defensive wing they have been looking for who is locked into a good contract. Clippers get a talented young prospect in Julian Strawther and a lightly protected future 1st rd pick.

Batum is finished, so he's irrelevant. This is basically Derrick Jones for a first round pick and a future 6th/7th man. I don't like it.

Denver loves Strawther and he is coming on. They seem to value their late first round rotation guys very highly. Plus, that 2031 first round pick is the only first rounder they are able to trade. They would hold on to that in hopes of aiming a lot higher than Jones.

DJJ proved himself in the playoffs as someone who can defend players like SGA and Anthony Edwards...plus he'll get a nice Jokic bump. I like Strawther but he's probably two years away from actually being a playoff contributor for Denver. Can't waste any time with Jokic. Braun, Watson, DJJ give them the defenders they need to make a championship run.

I would feel comfortable with it if that pick wasn't included. Denver needs that pick to try to pry a high upside guy away from another team. Still a long shot, but without it, it's virtually impossible.
