Buy Beasley out and then just resign him?

He seems to have be an amazing fit with Cade.. they just played a cap game with Reed; why not with Beasley? Don’t think there’s a difference between bringing back a player that you waived versus bought out.

Don’t know what rule would even say, part of the buy out would go towards the new contract for this season so not like Det paying him twice.. but just giving him a few million dollars extra and locking him up?

Say you buy him out him and then sign him to 3yr27 try to get a team option and throw in max incentives? Only 3yr21? Player option? 3yr30? Use all of your cap space and give him 4yr60+… (not really)

Unlikely but seems like something Beasley should agree to and the Pistons could do worse with 10 mil of their cap space..

Wont beasley go on waivers and get claimed?

I think we need someone who can score in isolation when the offense in general isn't working (mostly because Cade is on the bench/unavailable) and can take some pressure off of Cade. Looking at the top 50 rankings for iso players so far this season (Cade is ranked 17th) here are the names that stick out to me as possible (with rankings beside them):

9. Zach Lavine
20. Julius Randle
24. Spencer Dinwiddie
28. Anfernee Simons
37. Cam Thomas
39. Kevin Porter Jr.
40. Collin Sexton
42. Jordan Clarkson

A lot of factors to consider for each, such as contract, availability, other skill sets/fits/etc. Goes against my hopes on the defensive side but Lavine, Simons, and Sexton feel like the most realistic of those listed to me. I could see Randle. It all comes down to price, of course. I don't think any moves like this make sense if the Pistons have to give up first round picks, Ausar, or Holland. Not sure how realistic getting any of these guys is without giving up any of those assets.

I have not read the whole thread but if someone already suggested this forgive me. Minn is $31 million over the tax line, send Randle to the Pistons for Tobias Harris and send the pistons pick back to them that the Wolves got in the Towns deal.

This Minn team is not as good as last year might not finish above 8th and should get out of some of their tax hit.

It’s been mentioned.

I don’t know about ownership opinion, but T-Wolves fans don’t want to pay a first to downgrade their talent level.

Wolves are 3 games above .500, half a game out of 6th, 2 games out of 4th, and the money on Harris is bad next year. The odds of this happening are literally 0%. Even if the Wolves controlled their own pick, (which they don’t,) it is a great way to piss off Ant. Any trade of Randle for Harris needs a 3rd team. If you want the pick back then it needs to send value to the Wolves in exchange.

I don't think Booker hits the trade market anytime soon, but if he did I imagine the Pistons would be a team that would push hard for Booker rather than facilitate him to another team. He's from Michigan and often reps Detroit with wearing both Lions and Tigers apparel. He's someone who would actually want to be traded here which is a rarity for stars.

Hopefully he hasn't changed this viewpoint after 10 years: https://www.espn.com/blog/nba/post/_/id/4772/report-booker-hopes-hometown-pistons-pick-him

At this point I wonder if they would rather make a trade to get a good player to add to the team. They are playing great basketball and already have Cade, Ivey, Holland, Ausar, Duren, and Sasser as young guys to develop.

I'd focus more on finding a good piece while saving a team a crap ton of money.

What kind of incentive is needed to turn THJ into Miles Bridges? a 2nd? 2 2nds?

Or they could offer THJ + Assets for Cam Johnson.

I can't imagine the Pistons as an organization would touch Miles Bridges even with draft capital attached. Cam Johnson is someone I'd support a trade for but Nets seem to have a high asking price at the moment.
