As a huge proponent of DEI, I hate the Rooney Rule. Not so much its intent, but what it causes…and that’s the annual engagement of sham interviews. There has to be a better way to encourage and enhance DEI among the HC ranks.

And it’s not a matter of support for Poles. It’s a lack of support for the idea that someone with BJ’s credentials would think that they could come in the door making demands about who the GM should or shouldn’t be. Tomlin, McVey, Shanahan…..fine. Johnson, no. It would indicate to me that his head may not be in the correct place.

At least our first three picks.
Give me the first four picks in the trenches please.
Draft comes before Free Agency.

Agreed 100%
A man who has no rings or even have made the SuperBowl to be given that sort of control or for him to assume that would be mind boggling. But I have a feeling that this might be something that was created by the media as opposed to actually coming from him.
He’s probably expressed having a great working relationship with the GM and somewhere along the lines “requesting GMs to be removed” in favor of his hiring might’ve been added onto this. Something similar to how media tried to say Caleb wanted part ownership.
Poles seems like a pretty easy going charismatic guy though. It also helps that they are similar in age as well. I feel like Poles can win Johnson over but we’ll see.
Also not firing Eberflus last year helps when convincing a new coach that Poles will show support despite outside media pressure calling for Flus head a year ago, giving Flus a shot to prove himself again.
I think Johnson biggest concern is roster construction and having real say so in who we draft and go after in free agency. I don’t feel like Flus had a lot of say so in that regard.
