He’s still very good at what Towns provides. We need a center for what Towns doesn’t provide though.

Roster move begging to happen here.
I really don't care if it's Sims for some scrub SF/PF type.
Or Huporti for whatever.
Precious has some value because he can play some 4, if you like your 4's not that skilled.
Mitch supposedly will come back and save our defense but who really believes he's coming back with more than 20 games left in the season.
This is where the FO earns the $. Make a move, hopefully the right one.

I feel like Precious/Towns is a perfect pairing.
Precious has the defensive versatility to either switch or protect the rim, and with Towns, Brunson, Bridges and Anunoby there is enough shooting on the court.

Why trade for a 5 who can spread the floor only to pair him with a 4 who is a near zero on offense, who isn't a real threat to shoot 3's, so his man can sag off, clog the paint on defense and/or help all over the floor?
Precious brings all the problems Hart did last year but much worse. He's an ok big that you play 10 mpg and don't expect much from.
I'm ok with Precious though, as a backup 5, because he can sort of play some 4, as opposed to Mitch.
But the Knicks are carrying Precious AND Mitch.
AND Sims. And Hukporti.
It's a roster mess. I think the FO knows it, they are just looking for the right trade. The right trade might not be until the offseason, though Precious is on a 1 year deal, so if he's going, it's before the deadline.
That's if any team really wants him. Much like Sims, who is really clamoring for Precious? Maybe they'll want a 2nd rounder that comes with them more.

Our problem is we can't do 2-1 trades without going over the apron. We would need to bring in the 14th contract that we currently can't afford to fill the void.
Precious/Sims combine for 8mil which isn't really that much.
Mitch/Sims is close to 17mil which makes sense salary wise but, what value are we getting back?
Mitch/Precious is a great salary match but, for who? Would need another 5 in that trade because we can't possibly want to use Sims/Huk as the backup 5 right?
Being up against that stupid apron is really making this difficult!

Hart, Precious, Payne for Draymond and Podz
Either trade improves our defense and offense and depth.

Yes, these are the sacrifices you need to make when you go top heavy with your roster.
When you pay a superstar price for high end role players, depth becomes a real issue.
