NFL Wildcard Game - Packers at Eagles - 1/12/25 - 3:30 - FOX
Packers try to repeat their last SB season by winning in Philly in the opening game.
Weather forecast in Philly is 30's and light wind.

Giannis is one heck of a TE, if Khris can hold up at QB I think we got a shot

I’d like to see them incorporate more read option into the offense but Dame and Giannis still don’t have the chemistry. Ajax should be able to lock down AJ Brown I just don’t think we have any answers for Barkley.

In reality, I'm taking the Eagles to win because they are awesome but I do think we might have a shot.
I'm hoping we don't just pound the ball with Jacobs. The Eagles have the best run defense in the NFL, it'll be hard with no Watson but if we're going to have success on offense it'll have to be through the air imo. They are poor at tackling so maybe if we can get Kraft involved he could do some work
I'm actually fairly optimistic our defense won't get run over. Our biggest weakness is teams passing over the middle of the field which is something Philadelphia does very little of. We're actually pretty good at covering the boundaries and on run defense. I'm sure guys like Saquon, AJ Brown, & Devonta will get theirs but I'm fairly confident we can atleast limit them.
If we pull this off it'll probably be something like 20-17 where we can win the turnover battle and maybe get lucky with Elliott missing a kick or two(which is certainly possible)

Another quick point. Paul Noonan discussed this on his podcast but it's a good point. Hurts was one of the best QBs against man coverage and one of the worst against zone coverage, but for some reason the NFL ran one of the highest rates of man coverage against them. Given our lack of good corners I'm hoping Hafley will run a primarily zone defense against them

Casually optimistic, somewhat reasonably pessimistic yet ready for some great Packer drama.

All I ask is if we lose I’d like it to be a normal football game with no bizarre fluky plays or calls at the end to cost us the game.

If it's a flukey/controversial play that decides it hopefully it's in our favor. Never seems to be other than the Dez no catch a few years ago.

That was a decade ago. We're due for one.

Re: NFL Wildcard Game - Packers at Eagles - 1/12/25 - 3:30 - FOX
I think like we could have a real chance to win this one if we pound the ball with Jacobs and utilize our 2 really good tight ends.
But I am guessing MLF won't target our tight ends and will abandon the running game if we get down 0-3 in the 1st quarter.
Feels like one of the reasons MLF drops off a cliff as a head coach and goes completely brain dead in big games is because he panics quick as hell. Like if the Eagles get the ball on the opening drive and take a 3-0 lead on a 50 yard FG, MLF will panic completely abandon his game-plan. Then next thing you know it will be halftime and we'll be down 24-3.
Feels like if we score first, even if it's just 3-0, our odds of winning increase dramatically. Opposed to if we get down 0-3 MLF will instantly begin tripping over his own dick.
If we win the toss, we better not defer. That would be incredibly stupid. But would be typical of Big game MLF.
And hopefully we use all 3 of our timeouts early in the 3rd.....lol.
I like how it used to be annoying that the Packers would never have all 3 timeouts by the time we got to the 4th quarter. But now because MLF is a moron, we have to hope that he uses them early and doesn't use them to save time for Philly to go on a game winning drive.

Best run defense in the NFL, rilamann's solution, run the ball! Only a fool wouldn't.

Yeah if anything, MLF has been too focused on the run game.

Re: NFL Wildcard Game - Packers at Eagles - 1/12/25 - 3:30 - FOX
You guys would be talking about the NFL draft today if it wasn't for Josh Jacobs.
Running the ball effectively with Jacobs is our only real chance to win this game. That and using our tight ends.
Sure, the Eagles have a good run defense but it's strength vs strength. Eagle's run defense is a big reason why we only have a 10% chance of winning the game, the biggest reason being that MLF is a moron. But without running the ball effectively, we have zero chance of winning this game.
Running the ball effectively and utilizing the tight ends is how the Packers win this game assuming the defense doesn't lay an egg.
Our WRs aren't good enough to just beat them by airing it out. Especially now without Watson.
The scary part is, MLF would probably agree with you guys,

The Eagle's run defense is good, but they haven't faced Josh Jacobs on turf that wasn't dangerous unplayable.
Sure, if the Packers come out running the ball and it's not effective, you tip your hat and have to go plan B.
But to not even try running the ball because you're sacred of a stat sheet that doesn't include stopping Josh Jacobs on playable turf is what would actually be incredibility stupid.

One of the main reasons the Eagles beat the Ravens was because the Ravens tried to do exactly that with Derrick Henry and Henry only got 82 yards on 19 carries(a decent day but hardly a great day). We can't abandon the running for sure but we also can't rely on it and go in with a plan of "pounding the rock with Jacobs". That's a losing strategy

Also not sure where those stats are from but Eagles are ninth vs the run and first overall against the pass. Running Jacobs and Love is the smart move. I'd also like a couple of gadget plays for Willis if possible.
