Atl/LAC/Tor

Post#1 » by islandboy53 » Sat Jan 11, 2025 7:19 pm

This 3 team trade gives Atlanta PG depth while keeping them under the tax line. It bolsters the Clippers forward depth while getting them below the tax line. Toronto replaces Boucher with 2 players currently sitting at home, both of whom would be waived, and 2nds.

Atlanta out: Cody Zeller, 25 Min 2nd, 27 LAC 2nd
Atlanta in: Bones Hyland

LAC out: PJ Tucker, Bones Hyland, 30 2nd, 31 2nd
LAC in: Chris Boucher

Toronto out: Chris Boucher
Toronto in: PJ Tucker, Cody Zeller, 27/30/31 LAC 2nds

Bones isn’t worth two seconds. If he were, Toronto wouldn’t involve Atlanta.

I’m not even sure if Bones should be worth one second. I do not think I would give up a future second with any upside for him but maybe others feels differently.

Sure, Toronto could simply do Boucher for Tucker plus 2 2nds, which leaves them with more room under the tax for other moves. That said, Bones is putting up 7 points in 11 minutes on .366/.385/.864.

Toronto could just take Bones if he was good?

Bones/Tucker/one LAC 2nd for Boucher/Temple

Bones/Tucker/one LAC 2nd for Boucher/Temple

I think you're missing the point of the trade. Toronto doesn't need guards - they have lots. Atlanta has been short handed at PG since Bufkin went down. Toronto is looking to move several of it's veterans, including Boucher. LAC could use forward depth, and would likely move Bones to get that depth. Tucker is dead salary, but needed to get Boucher.

Yeah, but Bones isn’t good. That was my point? And like I said, maybe others think he is better than I do and it might not be bad.

Kobe was playing 13 minutes a game before he got hurt. He might be a really interesting prospect but it’s been over a month since they lost those 13 minutes..
