I feel the same way. But maybe we get lucky this time…this is from SAC’s news outlets…

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
Orlando is making a push this season currently 5th in the East.
They are in need of adding some additional shooting and have 2 1st round picks.
Anyone think we could deal Kispert for their later of the picks (22)?
Kispert + 45 for 22 ?

That Kispert deal isn't good for the Wizards. If anything, draft Kam Jones at #45.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Re: Official Trade Thread Part XLVI
I proposed in the trade board the following trade:
The Grizzlies get Valanciunas and the Wizards get Aldama+Konchar
Why?
The Grizzlies weakest spot is arguably at center and Jonas addresses this need. He is well known to the organization and many of the current players. He is having a good and productive season and is signed for 2 more years at a cost controlled $10 million. With this transaction, the Grizzlies save on future salary (and potential tax penalties) not having to pay Konchar $6 million/year for 2 more seasons plus having to resign Aldama in the offseason in the region of $15-25 million/year.
For the Wizards, they get their PF of the future who should pair well with Sarr. Konchar is the cost of doing business, and necessary to make salaries match in the trade.
Unfortunately, I was rebuked by several Grizzlies fans who do not want to see Valanciunas back in a Grizzlies inform. They argue he is not good come playoff time...
In case we draft a guard (Harper, Edgecombe, Jakucionis), I hope Dawkins bids aggressively for Aldama in the offseason who will be an RFA. Santi would be a great fit with Sarr in our front court.

Given Kuzma's shenanigans, this is a reasonable trade IMO.

Sac doesn't want Kuz... so there is that. And no, that isn't an upgrade compared to what else is out there.

????
They have Zach Edey, JJJ, & Jay Huff. No need for another Center.
Frichuela wrote:Konchar is the cost of doing business....
????? Not exactly! Memphis loves Konchar -- as well they should: he's a terrific player. They signed him to a 2-way undrafted, then inked him for multiple years, then extended him through '26-27 at @ $7m a year.
He's a bargain at that price, making the idea of...

No surprise!

Frichuela wrote:... would be a great fit with Sarr in our front court.
But, Memphis isn't trading him -- nor will they let him get away in the off season. Too bad...

As I undestand it, Kispert can be traded, but because he is a poison pill provision (PPP) player, matching salaries is difficult though not impossible.

For instance, I've been working on a Kispert trade to SAC for Huerter (plus filler). In the Spotrac trade machine, Kispert+Davis+Gill for Huerter+McLaughlin works.

I thought Orlando could fit because they are looking to add shooting, and probably aren't keeping both of their draft picks. Kispert could reunite with his college buddy Suggs.

There are several teams with multiple 1st round picks, and there's already talk of teams not wanting to use all of them, and could be looking to move them for future picks, or even could be open to just selling them.

That does works as Kispert for M. Wagner(plus picks on one or both sides).
One seemingly quirky thing about PPP player trades, if they can be made to work. It appears - though I'm not fully certain - that if the trade is allowed under salary matching rules, then the salary of the team receiving the PPP player isn't the amount needed to make the trade work, but the amount of their actual salary. So it seems like where a trade is possible, it can help the team receiving the non-PPP player cut salary.
In this example, Kispert's amount for trade purposes is $11,941,178, and Wagner's is $11,000,000. But for cap, tax, and apron purposes, Kispert seeminly goes back to his actual $5,705,887 salary, saving Orlando around $6.2 million against the cap, tax, and apron. Orlando is far below the luxury tax and first apron, so it doesn't matter for them, but it could for other teams.
I haven't been able to find much about this elsewhere, so any confirmation or contradictions are welcome.

I wouldn't mind keeping JV. He isn't taking minutes or shots from the young guys and is unlikely to bring much back in return. If we get rid of him then we will just end up having to get someone else to play C.
The rest of the vets can go.

Unless JV wants to leave or a surprisingly good deal is offered I can see how it makes sense to hold on to him.

Yup…hard not to like what JV does and to want to keep him. He’s the Zards most consistent and dependable player… and he doesn’t miss any games.
I’d want more than a single second rd pick for Jonas…unless he wants to be traded to a contender, which I could understand.
