Kings-Hornets

CHA Out: Josh Green, Nick Richards
CHA In: Kevin Huerter, 2029 SRP

Why for Charlotte? Consolidate a couple players that might not be in the future plans for a role player that will be on an expiring contract next season. With Richards guarantee next year of 5M plus Green's contract, this move would save them a tiny bit of cap next year but without his guarantee they add roughly 4.5M owed next year. This does shed a year off of Green's deal though as he has one more year on his deal than Huerter.

SAC Out: Huerter, 2029 SRP
SAC In: Josh Green, Nick Richards

Why for Sac? Move on from Huerter and bring back a better wing defender and a playable backup C with some rim protection. This fills some gaps and helps deepen the rotation in positions that are more needed.

My reflex is that it would cost the Kings a little more than that, but I’m not sure if that reflex is correct.

I think I'd probably prefer Cody Martin to Josh Green but with his deal also unguaranteed for next season, I assume he would probably cost more than Green. The idea here for Charlotte would be to shed that extra year of Green's deal but I'm not really sure how much they would value the smaller cap hit this summer.

Not sure how to value Green vs Huerter, but I do think Green makes more sense for the Kings. Huerter is a better offensive player which the Hornets are desperate for, but this season is so lost, it doesn't really matter.

I like this for the Kings. Not sure if they have a touch more value to add? But it seems to do something for them and is more swapping deck chairs for the Hornets so I'd want to push it a bit. Cash might do it for a historically poor franchise.

I would prefer only one second going out but could be talked into another, we can also send Colby Jones if Charlotte wants to take a flyer on him.

I believe the front office wants to shop Martin and keep Green, but hopefully the plan is to ship Green to the bench as the replacement for Martin. I believe this is Martin's last contract with the Hornets, and playoff teams might value the flexibility of using him in a playoff rotation 2 years straight because he has a cheap team option on next season.

Also, in recent games, but also as a rookie, Nick Smith Jr. is emerging as a sniper. He's shooting 42.5% on 3's for his career, flashing playmaking and playing with more purpose and confidence. He's at 40% on 3's for the season.

Nick Smith Jr. was a top-5 recruit out of high-school. He missed time to injury that affected his college play. But he looks like he makes good decisions as he's adjusting to the NBA.

I really like him on a rookie scale deal and I wouldn't want Huerter blocking his development.

can Huerter be flipped for a playable backup PF/C? if so I would do this. Salaun is like 9 years away from being a decent player

Doesn't really do anything for me. I would wait and see if anything else comes along.

That's the question we're asking!

Always gotta throw shade at the lowly Hornets - assume the new ownership is going to be super cheap cos Hornets?

I think it’s another second from Sac.

I’d have Green/Huerter are pretty similar value since Green has the extra year/Huerter the extra money, and I think Richards is worth two seconds?
