Probably wouldn't have had to if we didn't need to dump Birch's contract which had an extra year on it. Unfortunately that was self inflicted with the deal he gave him but Birch was still mostly serviceable when he was actually healthy.

Yes, it is to me.
Given the cap flexibility it provides, you can easily make the case that a 32nd overall pick is more valuable than say a 28th overall pick.
So technically, ya it is as valuable as a late first round pick.
I love Masai, but that trade was an absolute disaster. However, he can still redeem himself (at least to an extent) if he can trade Poeltl at this deadline and get picks back.
