It was a bad decision when it happened.

Some were acting like it was practical, which was confusing because he was getting paid like the best QB in the game, when he was merely above average for one season. I thought I had no clue what stuff costs, because I believed he warranted 20m less a yr. Why was he paid 10m more than Mahomes? Should get 10-15m less at least, below Carr, & probably Mayfield.

It was a panicky decision, imo. Just stand your ground. There was a couple yrs on the contract left iirc. And he had to be realistic that he couldn't be paid like the best qb in the league. I guess he didn't have to be though.

Doesn't surprise me he took a step back cuz how unselectively he gambled & used the back foot throw. It's from d's adjusting to his habits. So now he needs to step into more throws & take the underneath stuff early in the play, so the regression isn't permanent.
