Anyways, watching his footwork guarding FVV on the perimeter reminds me of whenever I watch Nic Claxton who is super mobile and can guard 1-5. Any center who can do that for under 27 million per season is valuable. I love Moussa. It's a huge score for the JP scouting department.

anyone watch Moussa play G league? I guess his scoring are all around the basket. was he more able to catch passes down there?

is it increased confidence or just easier defense?

They only posted highlights for one game. The other one he got 16 and 15.

Hate losing Richards, but this kid has potential to be just as valuable as a backup. Hope he can work on his catching and finishing ability in the off-season. He would be so much better if he had soft hands.

Not feeling great about Moose right now to be honest, you look at his stats and he is averaging 3.5 ppg. Only has 7 rebounds over the last 3 games he has played. Need more from him than this if he is going to be the C2 the rest of the season.

He has not been great since coming back from greensboro. I don't know if it's just been a tough stretch of big bruising centers or what. I mean he certainly active and it's fun watching him guard out on the perimeter, but maybe teams have gotten a little bit wise to how to deal with his offensive rebounding.

he was sick iirc, which would explain not seeing the same chaotic energy as we saw earlier in the season

hopefully it's just that, and getting benched for Nick Richards didn't take the wind out of his sails

Didn't know he was sick. That might explain some of it.

FWIW, behind Okogie's small sample, Moose continues to lead the team in +/- at 1.8. Last on the team? Mark at -5.1

Maybe the coaching staff doesn't know how to utilize mark. Maybe we don't have the right personnel on the roster to get the best out of Mark. But it's hard to ignore just how stark the differences between the on and off numbers between moose and mark. Mark is clearly miles more talented offensively. But we play better as a team with moose on the floor. I do hope the coaching staff and front office figure out a way to get the best out of Mark next year. And I'd kind of like to see us explore a few more mark and moose on the floor at the same time minutes.

Same, I also really like the defense of Mark+Moose together, but that can ONLY be done with three perimeter scorers on the floor. can't have Cody Martin or Micic in there for those minutes otherwise we're screwed offensively

Not ready to post my thoughts on the Mark trade yet, will do that later today, but this seems extremely relevant. Need someone more familiar with the CBA to explain our options here. Can we extend Moussa? Are there rules about how much we can pay him over the summer?

@mcley
Hornets don't need a roster spot to convert Diabate today. However, I estimate they are about $2.7M below the luxury tax line now. Minimum salary is $2.1M.
