It is possible for Mahomes to be a great QB, while also concurrently benefitting from the help around him and other situational factors. These are not mutually exclusive.

He didn't benefit from anyone on the offensive side of the ball this year. He was playing with backups damn near the entire season.

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, Mahomes gets plenty of help.

I have made it a point of principle to never put anyone on ignore, but my soon-to-be-5 year old twins could predict every post of his on the subject if they read just a page or two from this thread, and it’s sorely tempting me to make an exception.

Justin Herbert has all the measurable and physical traits you'd want in a NFL QB.

He's thrown for more yards in his first 5 years than any QB in NFL history.

He signed a 5-year $262.5 million extension in the offseason.

But he's winless in the playoffs and he's not going to win today, throwing 2 ints. in the second half, including a pick-6 which turned a 1-score into a 2-score game and another int. in the fourth quarter which has set up the Texans inside the red zone.

I would have Herbert outside my top 5 (off the top of my head, I'd rather have Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Goff, possibly a few others). But while I'm glad it's not my money, $52.5M APY seems to be a reasonable market rate for a top 10 QB.

I missed a large chunk of that game. I saw the one Hebert pick late. What i saw down the stretch was how bad LA's defense was. The just let the Texans run all over them.

I actually agree.

Goff is actually great when he's got a clean pocket but has a huge dip in effectiveness when pressured. Yes that's true for all QBs but Goff can get really bad.

Goff is the same QB he was with the Rams he's just playing behind one of the best if not the best offensive lines in the league which is boosting his production.

I don't know if this playoff weekend helped any contract talks but it's helped his image because a lot of guys that people would take over him have stunk this weekend.

I'm sticking with my prediction that he'll get a 4 year, 55 million average per season deal that when you peel back the layers it will be structured in a team-friendly way.
