Maybe it's debatable as to how much MLF went all-in as a play-caller with Jacobs as the offensive engine this season, but that reads entirely like Barnwell trying to analytics way too hard. I know what my eyes saw, and Jacobs was awesome.

When Jacobs signed I actually assumed it was going to be a one year deal. I think now it would surprise me if he were cut, mostly from an optics perspective, but if the draft is loaded in any position this year, it's running back.

I see the need for an "edge" talked about a lot and I agree with it fully, but I'd like to broaden that need to pass rush. I'd like to see the D Line improve as a whole. I know that 34 Edge and 43 DE are pretty interchangeable, but I think playing a 43 gives you a better shot at maximizing two way DL - guys that are stout against the run and still generate pass rush. These guys don't grow on trees, but if you can get QB pressure and be solid against the run with a 4 man front, that's such an advantage. Look at the Eagles. Those two way guys are gold (and hard to find) but we didn't have a single pure pass rusher DE guy - a KGB type that is situational and a one trick pony, but really useful at that one thing.

This was year one in a new scheme and I think the task is identifying which rostered dudes can play a role as either an IDL or DE.

I think we're more set inside and finding better DE that are either two way guys or pass rush only guys would go a long way. Clark, Wyatt, Brooks, Slaton - I think you can work with that as an interior rotation.

DE - we kinda suck. I'd rehaul that position. We don't have any good two way guys or situational pass rushers, just a bunch of guys.

I'd look at putting a few more lbs on Van Ness and make him an interior guy. I don't have optimism in him thriving in that role but I think it's pretty clear he's a dud as a DE. Quite literally just a guy. I think he's big enough and athletic enough to be a potential disruptor on the inside where his job is just go beat that guard in front of you. Tackles are eating him alive.

One offseason hope I have is the Packers fill most of their needs in Free Agency so they can go into the draft wide open and just take the best players

This. The problem was that our passing game took a step back - Love hurt, no rhythm, WR drops. Merge end of last years passing game and Jacobs and you have a scary dual threat offense. Playmaking WR, OL depth and health from Love gets us there I believe

Good news on Reeds shoulder.

Kind of crazy how going into the year the WR room was looked at as a strength and now we've got Watson likely out next year, Romeo might have brain damage, Wicks has the dropsies, Reed was up and down and Heath and Melton are just guys. That room needs an "alpha".

Sounds like a very soon to be Viking thing to say.

Had pretty lofty expectations going into the season, but the eye test let me know this team isn't ready. Needs going into the off season should be (not in any order):
1. Corner
2. Alpha WR (wasn't in on Tee Higgins, but would kick the tires.)
3. Edge Rush
4. ST Coordinator
5. Vet Leader

This team has talent, but they just make so many damn rookie mistakes. Some veterans will help. Jacobs deal looks kind of like a solid deal. He outperformed expectations. Mckinney obviously was another homerun.

They will have a 3rd place schedule and will probably win 10+ games again. But next year to me should be NFC championship expectations.

Considering coming into the year, most of us thought he was an iffy nickel at best, he was pretty great this year as the CB 1.

Keep Valentine but burn the rest of the CB room to the ground.

I'd definitely target Davante and Crosby as top targets. I think EDGE is the number 1 position of need and he's probably the best that will be available and Davante may be up for a team friendly deal. He's still good.

I think CB you can probably get in the draft. If you hit like the eagles or denver did, you are looking at a starter.

Nixon was fine(ish) at CB. We need two cornerbacks better than him, though.

Yea, I'm torn on how big a need CB truly is. I mean we could certainly use a good boundary CB but we actually had a pretty good pass defense this year. Where we got killed was the middle of the field which isn't much of a thing adding a boundary CB solves. Now maybe we could go from good to great there by adding one which is something to try and achieve. I think an ideal world sees Jaire & a new boundary CB as your starters with Nixon & Valentine as depth, then Bullard as your slot CB

I'm curious what McKinnie said to Valentine on the sidelines, after he got stiffed armed into oblivion. Goedert has like 60+lbs on Valentine, so I was less surprised than some by his being manhandled one-on-one.

As much as anyone has said. We get an Elite O-line and Elite D-Line (pass rush included) the rest should follow with some basic upgrades.

By the end of the game I didn't even want to come back because I didn't want any of these guys trying to force themselves to play through injuries they shouldn't. Just wasn't our year....hopefully everyone gets healthy and next year we can stay relatively healthy especially when it matters most.

If people had questions about Watson then what makes them think Tee Higgins is a "#1" WR? Because he's had the luxury of playing opposite Jamarr Chase and had Joe Burrow throwing him the ball his entire career?
