BI to NYK
OG to NOP
Why for NYK: Knicks get more offensive production, get out from under the OG contract, position themselves to try and retain BI at a reasonable cost, or have a salary to move next year in a sign, hold for a few months, then deal.
Why for NOP: OG is a bad contract now, but he fits well with Messi and Zion next year. You trade offense for another excellent defender who pairs very well with Herb when he is back. As the cap expands and new deals are signed OG’s money starts to look better in a year or two. BI as a distraction is gone, and the future looks more stable.

our issues include having too many scorers in the starting 5 and poor defense.
this doesn't help NY and this is a lot of money for NO to take on for a role player (3rd guy)

I don't see NY moving OG at all.

I am one of the few Knicks fans who thinks we should look into moving off OG for more depth, but this deal makes no sense, unless the Pelicans can find a way to get us all our picks back from Brooklyn.

A trade like this would really make this Knicks fan lose faith in our FO.

Re: BI for OG could expand later
At a minimum, I would think Herb Jones would have to be attached to Ingram for NY to even consider this. Then you get to the question of whether the Pelicans can even afford OG with Zion, and Murphy's extension kicking in. The entire reason BI is available is they don't view him as a max guy.

Re: BI for OG could expand later
Knicks shouldn't do this for basketball reasons. They need what OG does way more than what BI does. Pels would obviously do this if offered and then just flip OG for value.

Re: BI for OG could expand later
I don't see Knicks having any interest in a BI for OG swap considering how they shaped their roster.
This has come up before.
However, Zion.....

Why would we want to pay a poorman's Randle as much as Zion is paid?

Re: BI for OG could expand later
1) OG isn't really a fit on a team with Trey Murphy and Herb Jones, is he?
2) NYK really don't need that kind of scorer (not a great floor spreader) crowding the floor and demanding on-ball reps from JB
3) Thibs will choke Ingram before the end of the first half of poor defensive effort
