Karl-Anthony Towns On Right Thumb Injury: It Is What It Is

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:27 pm

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns didn't really want to talk about the right thumb injury he's dealing with. Towns kept his right hand in his jacket pocket while meeting reporters.

"It is what it is," Towns repeated four separate times when asked about the injury to the thumb on his shooting hand. "It's as simple as that."

Towns was bothered by the injury throughout the Knicks home loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday. He banged his right hand/thumb off the backboard in the first half. In the second half, Towns was fouled on a drive to the basket and spent several seconds holding his right thumb. He stayed in the game and finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds.

As a pistons fan, props to KAT for gutting it out last night. He hit his hand on the rim on a contested dunk attempt and was obviously in pain the rest of the night. I mean, in the nba the hand is part of the ball on most plays, so you are just going to keep getting hit on that over and over. And he still put up 26/12. In today's nba, playing through an injury in a regular season game is getting pretty rare, so you gotta appreciate it.

In typical Thibs fashion, he will run his rotational players until their wheels (or in this case, thumb) fall off.
