I say more like exposed than broke. Our weakness are showing against better teams. But Im not feeling all gloom and doom. Not at all. Coaching, size, and a deeper bench are all fixable.

Fixable, but when?

Depth pretty soon, with Mitch returning, and SIms likely on the move too for better bench help. And I'm sure we'' tweak the roster more in the offseason and later etc . Hopefully the depth changes will address sour poor size to some degree. Mitch automatically makes us way bigger, after that I want Whitmore who is like 6'7"...Coaching...Thibs better adapt or eventually he's a goner. Not this season but perhaps next depending on how well (or poorly)we perform.

the bottom line is brunson's vision and playmaking is mediocre at best. he has gotten better but to me is still essentially an undersized scoring guard that is capable of organizing the team well enough but isn't a plus advantage creator (other than for himself to score)

edit I just checked and KAT has been assisted 69 times by brunson, 2nd most is hart with 57. i think that is telling since hart is rarely even handling the ball. Cam has 27 in probably a tenth of the minutes.

Sorry if Brunson isn't John Stockton. Maybe a better coach could better utilize the strengths of the team.

yea i mean i'm not expecting him to be john stockton. i'm just pointing out his style of play as the #1 option on the team probably isn't going to work when you consider on the other end he is a liability. a better coach could potentially utilize him and this roster better - especially since i think the personnel lacks playmaking in general and is way too reliant on brunson to try to do that.

i think brunson could work as the #1 guy if he was surrounded with the right players - none of which can be below average defenders and ideally one wing/guard would be a plus ball handing playmaker.

you look at the hawks and i'm not saying they are better than us or their ceiling is higher, but they surrounded trae with long athletic wings and bigs that can all defend. a roster built like that could maybe have a better chance to win it all with brunson as the #1.

The hawks are a .500 team. If we had their record, a few here would jump out of a window. This team has a lot to work out, and it’s likely that it won’t happen this season. Until then, feel free to be overly reactive to a 50 something win team.

this play clearly highlights the defensive short comings of brunson and kat.

brunson played that PNR awful. he jumped out way to high left leaving the middle open for cade to drive. bridges saw that so he decided to stick with cade. brunson b/c of his poor initial attempt didn't run back hard enough on the rotation. usually he should sprint straight down to the corner man or to the middle and kat run out to beasley. hart runs to the middle to cover thjr which is correct. but brunson was way too late and kat, instead of running out to challenge the corner 3, just stayed down low to box out.

that can basically be exploited all playoffs. again, this team desperately needs a healthy mitchell robinson and with the defensive issues of team, thibs is going to play him 35+ mins a night.

specifically said i'm not saying the hawks are better or have a higher ceiling. they also didn't go all in like we did and had virtually zero expectations this year. i was just speaking to how a team can be a legit title contender with brunson as the #1 option - and having Towns as the 5 probably isn't it based on history and results so far this year. having that belief is far from over reactive. i agree the team has a few years to figure it out (also said this in my previous post)

disagree at least on the 1st one - it was on hart more than anything. he way overreacted to THJ - brunson was basically there in time to force a contested 3 or drive. the 2nd one was more of a complete breakdown.

we need a wing that can do the playmaking duties

Ingram
Butler
Tatum

Brunson is a better scorer than Wade and Irving but he needs a Lebron just like them… The Lakers were an exception because of the triangle offense and also a different era (though they had Odom for a while) but a lead guard with scoring mentality needs a point forward or/and point center to run the team like a well oiled machine

Before the season our only obstacle to a championship was Boston.

Now that we are in the middle of the season we have more than one obstacle:

Boston
OKC
Atlanta
Chicago
Detroit
Any team that plays zone defense

As long as jhart Brunson and Kat are not involved Get it doneee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would you want Zion?

OG and Zion are very close in salary. Zion only makes 67k more

KAT and Zion in the front court would be pretty cool

I mean yeah but he can't stay in shape and is always injured. I'd rather reduce OG's minutes load so that he can get back to being the defensive terror he was last season.

Two second round picks reportedly

They must be holding out on a team getting desperate and offering a 1st round pick.

I like Jonas and he would be an excellent big off the bench (if Thibs plays him). I think its gonna take more than just two 2nd rounders to get it done.

OG isn’t as good this year defensively because he’s guarding 4’s and 5’s. His natural position is SF. He should go back there and put Bridges at the SG.

What’s not being talked about his how we don’t have as much energy or athleticism as other teams. When we had 4 guards with Kat tht was the the only time we had enough speed to guard the perimeter.
