1st Bulls Blowup of 2025

Post#1 » by pipfan » Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:27 am

My Bulls are a Playin team (Again). We're going nowhere fast, but we have nice pieces. I would like to keep Matas, Ayo. Smith moving forward. MAYBE Giddy can stay-I say we play it out and see if anyone offers him a big deal this summer (doubt it). PWill is a sunk cost-might as well keep him but he's SO disappointing and mediocre. Ball should stay, as a leader and hopefully we can sign him to a fair deal this summer-he's a super high IQ player who's having a great comeback season

So, that leaves White, Vuc and Lavine (plus Craig, as a throw in where needed)

1-White and Port future 1st to SA for Jones/Wesley or Branham (SA choice) and the Bulls' pick back
I know someone will say-"why worry about the top 10 protected 1st if the Bulls blow it up?" but the pick is top 8 and top 8 protected after that.

SA would love White-maybe as their long term 6th man behind Castle and Vassell

2-Lavine to Orl
KCP to Det
Hardaway/Harris/Howard/Den 1st to Chi

Det gets a nice 2 guard vet next to Cade to make the playoffs
Orl gets an All Star-Lavine is playing GREAT this year, and his D has improved. Magic could really use his scoring/spacing and shot creation (Lavine just shouldn't be a #1 option).

3-Vuc and 2 seconds to GS for Payton/Looney and GS' 2025 1st (top ? protected)
GS could use a stud like Vuc (also playing really well this year)

Bulls go into the summer with Ayo, Smith, PWill, Matas, Howard, Phillips, Terry, our 2025 pick (praying for lotto luck once we hit the #8 spot)
Maybe the GS pick and Giddy as well. We suck the rest of this year and next and go into 2026 with mega capspace and lots of young talent.

Better than another Playin loss this April

I like the 1st 2 deals a lot, I don't like GS trading for Vuc, maybe remove the 1st and send 2nds insteas.

I like GSW trading for Vuc, but agree with you that it should be multiple 2nds not a first. Unless its like top 20 one shot that turns into two 2nds. Where if Vuc comes in and suddenly changes everything sure give Chicago a first, but most likely its just 2nds as thats a long way for GSW to climb.

I also don't love LaVine to Orlando. They could definitely use a perimeter offensive engine, but he's historically been a guy who just gets his but doesn't actually elevate team offenses much. At that point get a guy who makes less money and causes less depth issues moving forward.

Lavine is playing his best ball this year. He's better on D, and less selfish. He's super efficient and averaging 24/game.
I think he'd be deadly as a 2nd/3rd option and help Franz/Paolo.

I understand the 3rd year risk with the $, but Orl would benefit now from this-a lot

Shares in TNT Explosives stock just shot way up.

But as is tradition you want to invest too heavily in the 2025 draft. Three picks with maybe one in the lottery? The Bulls will have a lot of players coming back and no room to play even 1 rookie much less 3. The Bulls have both Phillips and Buzellis gaining NBA experience by next season they should either be in the rotation or wondering where they can go. You want rookies behind them?

GSW aren't going to give up a pick to get Vucevic. He might help them but the owner's wife isn't designing championship rings because Vuc showed up.

I can see ORL taking Lavine seeing his final year close enough to when they need to extend some younger guys. I'm not in the blow up for all expiring club, if the Bulls end up with their pick back, rather than the DEN pick in the 20's and Hardaway I'd prefer Issac and Anthony to have a bridge to the future.

If picks and players are flying around I still contend that PORT is the best partner for their pick and unless they have some invisible plan they should be trying to reshape their roster RF'n now. They should be moving somebody to get guys like the expiring THJ to start clearing both cap space and playing time.

Yeah i dont see the Magic taking Lavine either. As Chuck said they should look for cheaper options. Either target Coby White or look for other combo guards on the market.

Like I said in every Coby White to the Spurs thread, he's a nice player who I´d like on the Spurs, but not a priority. I´d first see if the Bulls pick comes in handy in a bigger trade (say, someone like DeAaron Fox but not necessarily him) or, in case it conveys, if there's someone on the board Spurs really love (no idea who that could be at this point). Other than that, if the Spurs feel like they can extend Coby White at a reasonable number, this is a very fair framework they should really consider.
