If we have 2019 Kawhi with the current team minus Barnes...

Post#1 » by bonjovi0308 » Wed Jan 15, 2025 5:36 am

Assume we have the 2019 Kawhi with the current raptors team minus Barnes, and all the injuries happened to our team members this season remain. How big difference you think our win/lose record could be?

That's like inserting kobe or MJ on our team id say wed probably be in play in at least.

This is assuming Kawhi isn't on load management and is getting along with team.

What an idiotic question. Just say what you want to say straight and move on.

Kawhi thrived with the Raptors because he was joining a 60 win team....current roster without Barnes is more like 15 wins

We would be the Miami Heat level team essentially.

A load managed Kawhi with this injured roster wouldn’t be leading us to more than a 10th seed. But it is very unlikely you’d have a roster like this with 2019 Kawhi on the team. We wouldn’t be prioritizing development at that point so minutes for rookies would be more limited. Also would we really have Darko as the coach?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

He left almost 6 years ago. It's time to stop this wishful thinking.

This team without Barnes wins like 10 games. Kawhi missed 32 games in 2018-19. 18-19 Kawhi plus these bums might miss the playoffs.

Our 2019 team had a top-5 player in Kawhi, a top-15 player in Lowry, and elite role players in Gasol, Ibaka, Green, Siakam, OG, and FVV. Hell, the team won 53 games the following year without Kawhi, during a shortened season (they were on pace for 60 wins).

There is no such thing as Kawhi without load management. You need a team that can hold its own while he misses 40%+ of the season.

If we have a healthy Kawhi with this roster we are probably a 45-50 win team and finish as the 5th or 6th seed...he's that good.

That being said we are probably a 1st round exit.

We would still suck. You are not winning any meaningful games with RJ and Grady playing the wing positions. Kawhi was amazing, but he is not Jesus to turn this crappy roster into a wining team.

It's a good reminder that we are in our infancy in the rebuild. It took a really long time to get the veterans around Kawhi. Right now we are on our way to getting the FVVs and Norms of the rebuild. We'll need a bunch more of those so that we can flips some for the Gasols, Greens and Ibakas of a championship.

Play-in team. Kawhi joined a stacked team. We’ve all seen how he’s done in LA. lol.

I guess no one will argue that the 2019 kawhi is a 1a on the contender. Many people trashing Barnes, but even we substitute Barnes with 19 kawhi, don't think he can carry this team very far

This team is booty cheeks, we would be nowhere worth mentioning or being. No player in NBA history is changing that, especially if we remove our best player lol.

Raps finished with the second best winning percentage in the NBA, three seasons in a row. Before Kawhi, during Kawhi, and after Kawhi.

Without Lowry, Raptors were/are nothing.

With the injuries, and Kawhi plays Barnes minutes? We'd be like 14-26 instead of 9-31 or something like that. Kawhi was great. Being worth about 10 more wins than Barnes over a full year is a ton, but Kawhi was that good that year, yeah. He missed some games though, too.

If you use win shares, Kawhi had 9.5 win shares in 60 games, which prorates to about 6.5 wins over 41 games. That would give us 16-17 wins, good for 11th, still behind the Bulls (though, depending on if we beat the Bulls in one of those extra wins, we COULD sneak into 10th).
