CHA/UTA
Charlotte trades Green, Micic, 2026 GSW 2nd, 2028 LAC 2nd
Utah trades Collins
Hornets add a big who can swing between the 4 and 5 playing both next to and behind Mark, and is a nice fit with most of the roster. Could play very well off of LaMelo. Partially clears the logjam at wing (Martin, Okogie, Jeffries remain)
Utah moves Collins' $26.9M for next season into two seasons at $14M in Josh Green (mediocre 3&D role player). Micic has a TO after the season and probably would welcome a buyout to go back to Europe in my opinion. They get 2 2nds to do it.

credit to MasterIchiro for the idea, but I didn't agree with the picks he had in his proposal on the hornets board

Re: CHA/UTA
I think Utah should prefer pulling the band-aid off and not pushing Collins into a worse player making half the money but for twice as long. Charlotte could trade for Collins without making them take Green, but I'm assuming dumping Green is part of what you are after?

I like Collins and like getting off the 3rd year on Green. I'd be willing to plunk down picks #32 and #33 or 2027 Pelicans 2nd. I didn't know we had a 2026 GS 2nd. You sure? Also that 2028 2nd isn't outright, it's swap rights.

Re: CHA/UTA
Utah has a roster glut so Collins plus Patty Mills works for 2 players. Need Green to be in there. Martin and Micic doesn't work.

I'd much rather keep Collins than to do this.

Re: CHA/UTA
Utah plays the Hornets tonight and has yanked all 5 starters. Ainge wants to lose and he's shameless. But I believe he lives for the draft and would demand 32 & 33 in this dump and tank. Collins is a really good player who is attracting other bids that top the one mentioned in OP.

Re: CHA/UTA
not really the intention, but it doesn't hurt, especially if Okogie winds up being the same thing at half the cost.Texas Chuck wrote:I think Utah should prefer pulling the band-aid off and not pushing Collins into a worse player making half the money but for twice as long. I'm sure Ainge may demand that. I like Collins too, but not enough to part with two picks that early and eat about $12M of our cap space next summer. You could get me on board with 1 of those 2 2ndsMasterIchiro wrote:Utah plays the Hornets tonight and has yanked all 5 starters. Ainge wants to lose and he's shameless. I think Utah can do better here. I mean if they can just get expirings somewhere that’s better right?

Collins kind of fits our roster perfectly especially now that we're a little exposed down one big and considering we kept Mark in bubble wrap for over one year. I wouldn't let Collins escape over early second round picks. We have 16 second round picks after the Suns deal for Nick Richards.
Green can't be left starting next year, so this move really thinks forward to next. I understand we don't want to swap draft slots with the Jazz, Blazers or Nets though.
We are so much better with Collins.

There's just nowhere near enough incentive for Utah to begin with, let alone with dropping picks.
