Curry: “Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future…”
Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future, there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise in a good space and good spot when it comes to where we leave this thing when we're done," Curry said. "Doesn't mean that you're not trying to get better. It doesn't mean that you're not active in any type of search to, if you have an opportunity where a trade makes sense or even in the summer free agency [move] makes sense. You want to continue to get better.
"Nobody wants to be stale or be in a situation where you're passing up opportunities. But it doesn't mean that you're desperate, just flinging assets all around the place just because you want to do something."

This dude is a true ambassador to the sport, him teammates, and his franchise. No matter what he does, I’ll never forget him carrying Team USA to gold with that crazy performance.

I'd still have rather seen them go after Siakam, Lavine, & Caruso at the start of last season and tried to win another ring or two while Steph was still Steph
Curry | Podziemski
Lavine | Caruso
Wiggins
Siakam
Green | Jackson-Davis

I think that window closed earlier than anyone thought it would. I mean sure they could have done better but he got one after KD left which solidified his legacy and which Warriors fans should be thankful for.

To be honest, they don't have a future really, but Curry's just being diplomatic.
I'm pretty sure he would have wanted more aggressive moves made after their loss to the Lakers in 2023.

I think that team I suggested could've gotten another ring or even two. Lavine would've made it like Klay had not only never lost it, but learned to dribble, and Siakam's playmaking from the frontcourt would've fit in perfectly with what they do. Having Podz & Caruso coming off the bench for Kerr to stagger Steph & Zach's minutes, would've also given them the perimeter defenders to make noise.

Re: Curry: “Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future…”
I think with his recent comments it's shown that Steph really doesn't want to play for any other team but the Warriors no matter what even if it means going through times like these. He doesn't sound like he wants to ring chase so we can rule out him asking for a trade even if things stay stale for the next two years. I think he sees himself like Dirk and Duncan and at this point could honestly see him taking less salary as time goes on if helps the team avoid being god awful. This is Steph's 16th year and he's still obviously competitive but I think he's content with his career and sees the writing on the wall. I expect Steph to play out his contract and retire afterwards but it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he goes a year earlier. I think he'll wait on when Lebron goes so all the shine can go to him for his last year and then he goes the next year. Don't know when KD is retiring because he seems hell bent on winning a ring as the best player outside GSW before he retires.

Re: Curry: “Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future…”
Honestly, which player out there is available and worth giving out youth and multiple firsts for? There are only a handful of guys who could make an immediate impact on this roster and turn it into an instant contender (Jokic, Giannis, Shai, Luka, etc.) and none of those guys are available under any circumstances. Zach Lavine or Paul George won't make them a contender and certainly aren't worth selling out their future. GSW's only hope is that Buddy Hield suddenly remembers how to shoot, and that the team as a whole stops sucking from the FT line.

He'll compete until they carry him off. Played 37 minutes tonight to get the win.

Eh one on hand you can try and maximize the opportunity you have now with two HOFers who are still playing at a very high level. On the other hand you start planning for the future by keeping all your picks and such for a team that hasn’t drafted very well (based on what Warriors fans say even though I personally think they’ve done okay).

Hindsight is 2020, but they could've had:
Tyrese Haliburton, Franz Wagner and Alperen Senguin instead of those three.

Feels like they we're hoping for a resurgence with their big 3 around a good rookie, similar to what the Spurs got with Leonard.
They honestly got a bit of that with Poole in 2022.

Looking back they should've used those picks in a trade (or trades). I know many people here thought they should do that.

It's unreal to me that the Warriors had the #2, #7, and #14 picks in their possession and instead of trading them for talent to extend their competitive window, they drafted three busts (well, Kuminga isn't a bust, but he's not a difference maker either).
They could have easily parlayed those picks into an All-Star who could have potentially won them an additional 1-2 titles.
